Chester's got a sore paw

I only noticed it tonight. He likes sitting on the mircowave that is on top of the fridge and his back legs where stretched out so i stroked him. The one that is not sore he is fine but the other one he cries and pulls it towards his belly. It looks like its sore between his middle two pads. I cant see any cuts at all and he doesnt go out and he is not limping at all. If he doesnt improve or starts limping i will take him to the vets asap.

Wonder what he's managed to get up there between his pads? My Smudge used to let me tickle in between her pads and never showed any problem with spreading out her toes to let me do that. I can't imagine any other cat allowing it!
