Poor Merlin has cystitis again. He seemed fine this morning, snoozing in the sun on the window sill but early afternoon he was trying to squat all over the place but nothing much was coming out and the little that did was tinged with blood. He has had bouts of this so often over the years and luckily enough I was able to get him to the vet within an hour of noticing the symptoms. So he's had antibiotic injection and anti-inflammatory injection (not having had any Metacam since Monday as luck would have it). He's much calmer now and hopefully no longer in pain. He was going for a check up anyway on Friday, so he's going back then to see how he is getting on.

Poor old lambkin - it's not fair is it?

He seems much more relaxed now. He has eaten his supper and is asleep in front of the fire on his thermal mat.

Poor Merlin, luckily he has a good mum to look after him so well and rush him to the vet with first signs :) As someone, like Yola, who is prone to suffering cystisis, I do feel his pain and wish him a really quick recovery. It's just so uncomfortable and can put you in such a grump. But if he's happily snoozing in the sun that's a good sign :)

Merlin thanks all his kind Catsey aunties for their good wishes. He was such a grumpy boy at the vet's yesterday, understandably - his swearing could be heard in the waiting room. And, he has to go back tomorrow!

How did the visit go, Angie?

Ah, just back from the vet's. All is well. Merlin was obviously not in any pain and let the vet examine him. On Wednesday, his bladder was all tight and screwed up, but today it was relaxed and the vet said he could feel no stones or polyps. His urine is low pH, which precludes any crystals forming. So, it was just a cystitis attack which has responded to treatment. He has had another anti-inflammatory injection and his monthly B12 injection. He did not swear at the vet - only at me as I was holding him while the vet went to get the vitB injection - we were all unscathed at the end - well apart from the wallet that is.

He has come home and asked for food straight away. OH is lighting the fire for him.

I always thought cats' staff was an excellent user name - Merlin certainly has his butler and housekeeper running after him!!! Wouldn't have it any other way.

I am feeling greatly relieved.

I am glad that your boss is feling better. We do regularly get put in our place don't we? I think Merlin may be communicating with Smudge because she is sitting next to the unlit fire glaring! Please ask him to humbly accept a chin tickle from Smudge's staff.....

I think they remember those long ago days when they were worshipped as gods in Egypt! Merlin gracefully accepts chin tickles from Smudge's staff! Thanks so much.

Merlin thanks his lovely aunties and nephews and nieces for their good wishes.

His housekeeper reports that he has managed to eat a whole sachet tonight, so she is very pleased with her master's progress! He says Imogen is welcome to come and share the fire any time she likes. He'd quite like a new photo of her to put on his feline friends noticeboard (hint hint Liz!)
