She is a moggy although looks like a pedigree. British blue shorthair I think. She is a 1 year old ish stray?

Edit: Taupe is a rather posh grey isn't it? You could adapt that to Toe-pea/Topee, which would be original for you and nice and easy for the girls to say.
You have to think of the name when you imagine yourself at the back door, rattling a fork on a dish calling. Esmerelda, for instance, doesn't sound so good then. Spookie rolls off the tongue though
