Indeed yes! Very common, Leia does it frequently. Why? Don't know!

Cooper tends to do this, but i think it's because he damaged his vocal chords when he was a kitten.

Ferdy my old ex-stray used to do this. He did eventually find his voice, but for such a heffer of a cat he always has a tiny, or non-existent miaow. No idea why!

This is a well-known ruse on the part of the feline fraternity - it ensures that their "people" are well and truly caught!

I'd recommend you read this book - it explains it all from a cat's point of view and it is delightful!

I second Angie's suggestion, do read The Silent Miaow if you haven't already. A charming book, my all time favorite cat book! Also excellent cat books are The Cats of Punchbowl Farm, the Moon Cottage series and Doreen Tovey's cat books...all excellent stories for cat people.....

Leo opens his mouth and lets out the tiniest squeek sometimes, then looks very indignant when I laugh at him!
