I've just unloaded the camera and came across a few good shots of them playing, then posing for a few nice shots as well :)

Darcy's found a new box to play with!

It's all just too exciting for himhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/jennyfurrens/Peepers/DSCF5316.jpg

They found a new toy
It's a bag made out of newspapers - a very funky bag I got with my sandwiches from a deli! But they seemed to love it.

Stravinsky had his legs stuck into it for a good 2 hours, just chilling.

Or is it a bed
Once Darcy got hold if it, he spent about 10 minutes trying to get into it. It didn't sit open naturally so he kept pushing his head in, and in doing so, pushing it away. He eventually got it though ;)

Stravinsky, a handsome lad!

I love how you can see his pink nose and little dirty splodge on his chin in this one :)

A big round moon face!

I think he looks like a big cuddly teddy bear in this one :)

He reminds me of a tiger or leopard lying on a tree branch in these ones :)

Great photos meep! What lovely gorgeous glossy-coated boys - I love them both. What fun they had with that bag.

Thanks angie :) They really do have amazingly soft, glossy coats. I remarked upon it the day we got them, and the first time I stroked them. I guess it means they're healthy :)

Also, they DID love the bag! Although Minsky got a bit too excited and ended up ripping right through it, so it was put in the bin. Silly boys

Wow, they're gorgeous. <3

I'm definitely a fan of Minsky! Got a big soft spot for bi-colour tabbies, and he's got wonderfully bright eyes. They both look so healthy and happy.

Thanks Darky :) I'll pass on your compliments to Minsky himself ;) I think they're both gorgeous in their own ways; Darcy is a wee bit slimmer and sleeker, with such gorgeously defined black tiger stripes and such curious markings on his face, whilst Minsky is a big cuddly bear. I love his pink nose and the little dirty spoldge on his chin, and of course his white paws!

Darcy has a lot more of a red tinge to him, whilst Minsky has a much more grey/silver tinge to his tabbyness - even though they're brothers!

My bi-colour tabby had a brother who was completely chocolate brown, so. Difference in siblings is always interesting!

A completely chocolate brown cat? How interesting and unusual! I haven't heard of many chocolate brown cats before :)

Darcy and Minsky are different in almost every way, which I love :) (Apart from their love of food, sleeping and meowing - but I think that goes for most cats!)

What super-looking cats!!! They certainly are doing everything right; playing, fighting and posing :D

Thanks Yola :) I've desperately tried to get some action shots of them jumping, but my camera just blurrs every time on all different settings. And the moment I switch it to video, they stop what they're doing

Loved those pics! Why do we bother buying toys...give them a bag or a box and they're as happy as clams!

I had to come back and look at these lovely boys again! I love the way that Minsky looks so relaxed in those last few shots over the arm of the chair or sofa, but he is as bright as a button and the alertness can be seen in his eyes - ready to pounce on anything!

DH - I agree on the toy front! The only toy I've bought them that they love and use is there little spongy, bouncy balls. They play with those every day and never get enough! The others are: old shoe laces, cardboard boxes, big bits of newspaper (they often just explode through these!) and bags. Not forgetting us sleeping in bed and jumping on us; that's the best game of all!

Thanks Angie! My two are very flattered :) They are both such chilled out cats, my OH's parents came to visit today and they were all over them, sniffing and purring and saying hello. They just don't freak out at all. We've had the flat next door refitting their kitchen, and there's been electric saws and drills and all sorts and they haven't freaked out once! And yet at the same time they can be SO energetic. Darcy frequently randomly runs from room to room for no reason. Never a boring night in that's for sure

Makes me wonder if they were right saying the boys might be part Bengal...very, very high activity level! Mine have always loved old shoelaces, especially long ones from trainers..even my lazy girl !

The high activity level of them is one of the main reasons I thought they might be part Bengal. I'm just out my bed at 10am (it is a Sunday morning!) as since 9am Darcy has been jumping on and off the bed and meowing. He is now quite happily chasing a ball around and mrrp-ing to Minsky to join in. And he's now just attacked a piece of foil I dropped on the ground

They do love shoe laces, but get jealous if one is playing with one. I once tried to do two at once, one in each hand, but sadly I'm not that multi-talented

They certainly sound very active. Perhaps they have bengal somewhere in them.

This morning Minsky kept yowling and carrying his ball over to me so I could throw it for him. The more I play with him and his ball, the better he becomes at 'fetching' it; I was stunned the first time he did it! He used to just pat it ovre to me with his paw and then look at me as if to say "well, throw it again!" but now he picks it up in his mouth and carries to my feet!

Needless to say I was 2 mins late for work as I couldn't resist his big kitty eyes!

Does Darcy have any other "canine" traits?

Does Darcy have any other "canine" traits?

It's Minsky who fetches the ball, Darcy also likes to chase it but isn't as good at catching it in the air (to jump up) and he's never picked it up in his mouth.

Darcy frequently falls asleep at my feet though, wherever I'm sitting. I'm not quite sure what other canine traits would be; they don't pant or tail wag that's for sure

I guess fetching a ball is very unusual for a cat. They don't do it on command, like "fetch!" but if Minsky wants to keep playing ball and I dont go and find it for him he'll eventually bring it to me. He often wanders around with it in his mouth though.

Oh I remember one that was so 'dog-like!' Minsky does crouch down and get ready to pounce when I roll the ball on the floor back and forth between my hands. He's gotten to recognise that if I pick it up and put my hand back I'm about to throw it into the other room, so he gets ready to run. Once I made the action of throwing but didnt actually throw it, and he still leaped out the room after the ball he thought I'd thrown

I know dogs do that quite often!

Dandy played fetch with a tinfoil ball when he was a kitten/young adult; but gave it up in later years, He also loved to ride in a car with his head out the window (very doglike)...safely harnessed, I might add~!

My cat Smudge used to do fetch and drop things at my feet to throw. She is the only cat I've had that did that.

Awh bless him! Can I just ask, why were you taking him out in a van? And was he an outdoor or indoor cat? I always think it'd be so much fun to take my boys out on a lead or something, as they're so inquisitve and exciteable, but I know if they were allowed out once they'd just never give up yowling and scratching at the door till they were allowed out again.

He was an indoor cat, but harness trained, and loved to go on his walks around the neighborhood. He was in a van because we were going to the CFA cat show in Gaithersburg (suburban Maryland). My friends were showing; their cats were in carriers; Dandy was on exhibition (he wasn't show quality but Puras were rare here in those days, so it was allowed). He yowled so much I let him out of the carrier on my lap in his harness. He adored the whole show thing...being fussed over, and all the new exciting scenes and smells! Pity he wasn't showable, he would have wowed the judges with his personality....Puras are known for being very sociable, people oriented cats!

I just found your reply now DM, for some reason I wasn't emailed about a new reply!

I didn't realise Dandy was a purebred, and I've never heard of that breed! Am going to go and look it up now :)

Bless the wee sociable chap, he sounded just so lovely.
