The last one I bought hasnt lasted, half of it is fine, the other is on its way out with heavy Cats leaping on it!

Hopefully this one will last, solid wood legs and bases. Liked these when I saw them at a Cat show. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

Dawn you need to be more lateral thinking; stairs are perfect cat scratching posts....lined with good quality carpet and underlay, one staircase can last a cata lifetime if humans renew the carpet on a regular basis.............;)

I really like the Russell Hardy catscratchers. They are expensive but they certainly last.
This is the one I have.

Thats really nice Dawn, I resorted to a complete heavy wooden one, my lot just destroy ordinary ones...

They look good and sturdy Dawn........Cassie could do with something like that, she scratches her post so vigourously that she often pulls it over!

I have a Russell Hardy one too and it's fantastic :)

I would recommend either Russell Hardy or Kalven cat scratchers as they are made to order and made from proper wood with screws - not like the MDF flatpacked ones you can buy in local pet shops and on the net

Leia (and her predecessors) has a big real tree branch; she also likes to use the top of the wooden wine rack! She has never once used the scratching part of her cat tree......

My cats use our scratching posts everyday. They have always had them since kittens. We got our from zooplus.

Oh yes, so they are!! Thanks Elaine. I sent him pics because he has BSH himself and asked if they were happy with their new toy! Really nice chap.

My four use their scratching posts but must replace one as it s threadbare now and nothing for them to get hold of any more. Naughty Felix uses the wooden door frame - and what a splintery mess that looks now, and also the banister upstairs he has virtually shredded! And although I tell him off he still persists - he s the main culprit really. Though Tess has one spot on the stair carpet she heads for. Must look into these scratching posts mentioned. Jan x
