Hermione, Hillary and Hepzibah!!:-D :-D :-D

Remember those chickens I mentioned a few days ago. Well my cousin got bored within 2 days, so they came to mine last night. I have been doing LOTS of reading the last 24 hours lol, and OH has fixed up their rather dilapidated coop and run for the time being. There was loads of gaps and draughts. He has blocked these off and created some nesting boxes rather than just the floor. I'm going out on monday to stock up on stuff for them and to get coloured rings for their legs so I know who's who:lol:

The girls are absolutely over the moon with them (oh and we had 3 lovely big eggs this morning:-D )

Ps. please forgive state of garden. OH cut the hedge yesterday and hasn't cleaned up all the cuttings yet and it rained all day today so he couldn't cut the grass.

Well well chickens I assume thats what you were chasing Smudgley for the other day. Your plants should be slug free now or is that a myth that chickens eat slugs.....?

Are they going to have the run of the garden? make sure your coop is a fox free area....remember Smudgley's chickens.

Best of luck where did your cousin get them from, fancy only keeping them 2 days........poor chucks...

Oh just thought youll have to keep quiet about Hilary when DM comes back....

lol about Hillary!

My cousin got them off of a friend of his who was moving, but he's really not a great animal lover, so I didn't think they would stay with him long. And yes it is what I was after Smudgley for:D They get out in the garden whenever we are out, and at night safely in their coop. It is a lot more sturdy now OH has fixed it up a bit, but still not great. He is going to sort it ASAP, but I have never seen or heard of foxes round my way, so fingers crossed they will be ok for a short while.

I presume they eat slugs etc, they have certainly been having a good old munch on all sorts today.

They are really gorgeous looking chickens, really smooth and glossy. The taste of freshly laid eggs is supposed to be amazing!

Chicken keeping is really on the up in the UK apprarently so hopefully you will have lots of resources available to you for advise.
