I have a baby sparrow in a small box and not sure what to do! I have put some grass in the box, some bird seed and water. The bird was in the garden and Misty nearly caught it. It seems to have a damaged wing. It has some adult feathers, but is still yellow around the beak, so must be very young. Any ideas gratefully received!

Oh my gosh. Sorry I can't offer any advice. What about some mushed up cat food? Wouldn't that be like regurgitated worms?? Sorry, clutching at straws  I hope the little fella pulls through . . .

Hi Kim are you a member on dogsey? There is a member there who is very knowledgeable on this sort of thing and she'd know what to do. Give me a pm and I will let you know her ID. x

Thanks for replies and for your pm random. Little bird, quiet, but okay at the moment. We have put him in my sons room for the night (he's away at uni) and see how he is in the morning. Will try the cat food Yola, anything is worth a go!

Mini meal worms are nearest to what parent birds would give a baby bird. Even seed eaters eat little worms and bugs when very young as they are soft. Hope you manage to contact the Dogsey person who has practical knowledge.
