He hates having his photo taken so I usually have to do it when he's asleep, or he will miaow loudly if he's awake.

What a handsome man!!! :)

When you said this is my munchkin - I thought you meant he was going to be a Munchkin breed (you know - the ones with the short legs) and I have to say that I'm glad he's not!!!! ;)

 I've never heard of that breed before - will have to investigate. Just one of the many names he gets called - don't know why! I used to call my first cat Gizzy "Spider" and I don't know where that came from either :)

The Munchkin breed is quite controversial, as it's been deliberately bred with short legs :( Here's a link...

I know what you mean about nicknames though - mine get called the funniest things!!! from Princess to Rooster. No idea how or why!?!?!?! :?

I dont understand:? The links I have found say that the short legs are a natural occurance, so how can they be deliberately bred with short legs? Am I being thick:roll:

 Oooh - thanks for those links. I'm very glad Ollie isn't like that - they don't look right at all - sorry if anyone has one. Will do more reading but surely it affects their speed and ability to do what cats do, but then I suppose they're not outdoor cats.

I'm not sure I'll be able to call him my munchkin again without being reminded of them

I'm glad your Oliver is just the way he is! I have a great soft spot for tabbies, my Merlin in one!

Didn't "munchkins" as a name first appear in "The Wizard of Oz" - and had nothing to do with cats?

I saw your Merlin on the post you did in Introductions and thought how similar he looks to Ollie - I think tabbies are beautiful.

His nickname came from the munchkins in Wizard of Oz - one of my all-time favourite films - though I really don't know why as he doesn't look like them at all. Maybe that's how the cats got their name? :D
