Wow! What great pics Elaine:D The birds are lovely....was that owl you were holding very heavy.....he looks huge! Graham doesn't look a bit concerned with the one stood on his neck!!:lol:

Glad you had a nice day there and the weather was good for you, the scenery is so beautiful too.

The birds were all very very friendly, until the guy took them back from you, then they didnt want to know you at all;) The eagle owl actually isnt as heavy as he looks, he weighs around 4 and a half pounds. Surprising isnt it:D
Graham wasnt bothered at all about the bird on his neck:lol:
The dear is the lawnmower, he keeps the grass around the bird houses nice and short. He'll follow you around for food but doesnt like to be petted.

Any idea exactly which bird she keeps? I really enjoyed it and the guy who runs it was very friendly and informative.

I am in awe at those pics! I cannot believe they will just sit calmly on your gloved wrist (or on Graham's back!) like that! What a wonderful experience that must have been!

Just poppped over from Dogsey - AMAZING - I love birds of prey. I've had a few goes and it really is the most amazing experience.

Beautiful! The Eagle Owl is the most stunning bird.

Having said that, with my phobia I'd rather have my teeth and fingernails extracted than experience one of those bird close-up, bu I can still appreciate the exhilleration of working with them.

Thanx again every one, it really was a fantastic day. Their friendliness is dictated by food bring given. They know they will be given food if they land on the glove, they will allow you to stroke them once they have had the food, then they will fly off to the next person. When the guy who owns them finally takes them onto his glove, the birds know that is lunch time and they will no longer allow you to touch them.

Really excellent photos Elaine! What a wonderful day that was. I remember seeing an interview with the bird trainers who worked on the Harry Potter films and they said that the owls were the hardest birds to work with as they aren't as intelligent as people think. I think that's a real shame - I still think owls look very wise!
