This is an e-mail I have just sent to everyone at work.
I'll keep you posted about the cat when I catch her.

Hi,
Just to let you know I saw a cat near isolation a couple of weeks ago and she ran off when I approached her.
I saw the same cat today & noticed she is heavily pregnant. Looks like she is a feral cat, therefore I will set a trap tomorrow and try to catch her & take her to a safe place to have the kittens.
She may not go in there straight away and we sometimes have to gain their trust by feeding them near to where the trap is being set.
Please can I ask that noone goes near the trap and hopefully I will be able to catch her.
I will not leave the trap set if I'm not on site.
Thanks all.

Good Luck with getting the mum-to-be to a safe place for birth Smudgley. I'm sure that the email will be heeded. After all, it's in everyone's interest to ensure the cat and kitties are well looked after. Again, best of luck and keep us posted if/when you get her. :)

I don't know, but I think it's strange that noone else has ever seen her & I have seen her twice.
I put some food down for her last night.
I probably won't set the trap until late today because i'm at work overnight,so I don't want her to be in there too long.
But on the other hand I really want to get her as I don't want to set the trap at the weekend, because if she goes in I will have to go and collect her and I live an hour away from work. So if I don't get her today, I think I shall leave it until Monday. :(

Thanks for your good wishes everyone.

I will even put my camera in the car now & get a photo if I trap her.

She needs a name.

Any ideas?

A Guide Dog related one maybe?

I thought about;
Guide
Guidewell (that's the GD KC affix)
Tollgate (Tollgate House is the name of the Breeding Centre)
Chancer (because hanging round a large dog establishment is not the best thing to do when your a cat)

I'm sure you lot will think of something better though?

I would call her Lucky! :D

Did I mention the newt man on here? I don't remember that  Oh well, he came with the newt lady and they sat and watched the pond and didn't find any newts. :? But are coming back Tue to stay from 10pm - midnight as they have to look at dusk and dark to check properly. They had some very technical kit with them.

Because the Breeding Centre is going to be knocked down and rebuilt  The conservation / newt man had to check for (are they great crested newts) ? newts as they are a protected species before the rebuild can commence.

Probably shouldn't have bought the newts into this thread Smudgely, sorry but I must have read it somewhere - I don't usually dream about newts!

Mags - "The great crested newt is listed on Annexes II and IV of the EC Habitats Directive and Appendix II of the Bern Convention. It is protected under Schedule 2 of the Conservation (Natural Habitats, etc.) Regulations, 1994, (Regulation 38) and Schedule 5 of the WCA 1981."

Smudgley you better check he's not P*ss*d as a Newt, and if he is keep him away from the water ;)

Seriously they take it very seriously don't they. My aunt has Newts at the bottom of her garden and the neighbours the Aunt who lives in Bellbroughton) and the newt people came thre too before he neighbour could build a "office" they were the protected ones and they could not build.

Why not call her Newt............:) a talking point,

I like the name Chancer, and I like the guide dog link, what about Brownie (step down from the guides).

Or Summer given she was found in the Summer. Or May down to the month?

Sure she is gorgeous who has her you?????
