Its needing weeded and dug over, then I will decide what to plant...The few plants that are in there will be moved..

I cut the shape out today with the spade, what I want is a few shrubs and then put bark down...So its easier to keep tidy...

Not sure yet, I love Sambucus, but would be better with evergreen, maybe Holly...

That looks like a lovel sunny spot Moli, is it a figure of 8 shape you are going for?

What do you think will grow well there, Magnolia's and Acers maybe? You don't need to do nything to them at all very self sufficent. Underpinned with some daffs and tulips for Spring/Summer flower.

Sambucus are great with Japanese maples (acers)

It was a figure of eight at one time Kazz, Acers would not survive, it gets very windy in that spot...so needs to be something very hardy...I have Acers in patio pots, that go into the greenhouse for the winter, did plant one in the garden last year, but it was killed by the frost...

I have a roddy in there, one I bought from lidl last year and its got huge buds on it......Azelea's, good idea Kazz, they are very pretty....May just do that, thanks Kazz...:D

And such wide variation too frm inches hish to feet high in both plants. And hardy and a wide range of colours and flowers, both evergreen and dudicious too. Sorry for the spelling I am tired and off to bed.

They would both mix well with your Sambucus too ;)
