Hi, all,

Any tips for dealing with my new rescue Birman (about four weeks). She is settling down fine, but is scratching the backs of the chairsw. We have a scratching post, but she doesn't use it. Also, we have a mat for scratching on, but no luck. The previous owner said she is used to a scratching post.

Any tips??

Not sure if they're covered in the links but the 2 I've used that seemed to have worked are (a) put scratching post/s against area of furniture that is being scratched and/or (b) put double-sided tape on top of the fabric that's being scratched. My one cat that did it hated having sticky on his paws and stopped pronto. Good luck.
