I've had this little low-growing eight-petalled flower for years and have never been able to identify it. I, erm, "liberated" it from a glade in the woods (a no-no!). It's not in any of the wildflower books I checked; occurred to me that it might not be native.. ... many of the plants we think of as wildflowers were actually introduced purposefully or by accident by early settlers: day lily, lyrethum, chicory, Queen Anne's lace, teasel, many others. So thought I'd post this and see if it might be one you know. Whatever, it's a cheerful little plant !!
