I went to get some chicken for my parent to have as they have to room for them.
We collect three chickens for eggs they are in there house/run at the moment but will be aloud free range during the day when they have gotten used to the area. The house looks big as we got one that could accomodate up to 12 hens as then we can get more if wanted. They are all 17 weeks at the moment so aren't laying yet but should do around 20-22 weeks old. They will be with my mum until they die of old age or illness.
They are called dorothy, edith, phyllis:-D . pics are below. I have also found out that you can get free bread cumbs to supplement there feed from tescos bakery bit where they slice the bread as they have a bag under it to catch the crumbs and they will let you have them for free. Which made me very exited (sad isn't it:oops: :-D )

Phyllis she is a amber lee hen she has a lovely brown hue and brown splodes on her wings.

What super names for the chickens :D I think you were very wise to put rocks around the edges to prevent the foxes from getting the hens.

Smudgley is going to be interested in this thread..:D

What lovely hens and great names. So nice to hear they are going to be allowed to roam free too. :)

wow, what lovely girls.
We've kept goldlines before - they are lovely & the black star is a black rock ;) {they are sometimes called different names} which is the same as 4 of our new girls.

Ours free range now in the gardren.

They will need to be kept in their little safe house for a couple of weeks, so they really get a good understanding of their home.

I looooooooooooooove chittens. :-D

Hey Sally, there's plenty room at the end of your garden for a couple you know. ;)

What lovely chooks! I've always liked chickens since I was a little girl and fed my grandma's! Wish I could have some....glad you've fixed the pen so Mr. Fox cannot have dinner.....
