Ahhhh.
They're still colour coded - chocs to the rear, black to the front. Do they nab a nip and stick to it or is it first come first served?

A delightful picture Fran........ I had to laugh at the little black one on the right trying to squash his/her way in to the dinner table!! :-D

They all look as sleek as their mum too! :D

They don't half squabble over the teats. They all seem to have their favourite one

My OH and I both joined in the excitement and the anxiety of their birth over the w/end. When they were all secure and fastened on, I went and got him to come and see the picture of them all lined up for their tea. Feel a bit tired now - not nearly as tired as your household and dear Maddie of course, but thanks - it was a real honour to feel a tiny part of the wonderful experience of birth! Please thank Maddie for us both :D :D :D    :D :D :D:bighug:

To be honest I don't always bother with collars and I've now decided to remove them as it's obvious they are all doing well and I can tell them apart anyhow :-)

Fran they are so gorgeous. Can't wait to come and see them. Kyle says they are adorable which is high praise from him. Give a cuddle to each of them and a special one to Maddie. She is such a good girl.

Can't wait for eyes to open they are the most gorgeous puppies. I'd make sure you lock your doors at night Fran or your going to get lots of catsey members sneaking into the house for puppy cuddles. :-)

Most Labradors of all 3 colours will have a few stray white hairs somewhere on their bodies. The most usual place for a few white hairs is under their elbows, between the back legs and between the pads of their feet :)

How much does poor Maddie have to eat to grow those little monsters Fran? What will be the maximum before they start weaning?
(Sorry - it's a bit like 20 questions here isn't it?)

Fran
20-02-2008, 03:14 PM
What will be the maximum before they start weaning?

Sorry DM, I've not quiteunderstood the question..I'm blonde  Maximum what in what respect??

Maddie is currently consuming twice the amount of food she would normaly have if not a little more. She is having four meals a day and occasionally a snack in the middle of the night too ;) This will increase as the babies grow and demands are greater on her and at that point I'll feed to the demand really.

Fran
20-02-2008, 03:22 PM
Just thought I better add that Maddie is not fed commercial food. Unlike with commercial food, raw feeding isn't just about increasing the quantity, it's more about feeding the right foods for her at this time

dinahsmum
20-02-2008, 04:04 PM
Sorry - unclear question.
This will be easiest (I think)
How much more food is she eating now, compared with 'adult maintenance' when not pregnant or nursng?
How much more food will she eat in say 2 weeks time (when the pups are taking their maximum from her and not yet eating for themselves)?
Double normal? Normal and a half? Three times normal?

Fran
20-02-2008, 06:53 PM
Ah I understand now  She's roughly having double the amount of food now DM but slightly different diet from what she would have if not nursing. Roughly around 3 x the amount when demand is highest. Although in raw feeding terms this doesn't necessarily equate to 3 x extra volume, rather the quality/type of food

Wow, that picture of Maddie with baby snuggling against her is the most precious thing. Just adorable! The colour of the brown coats is so unbelievably shiny, I didn't realise dogs came in high gloss finish ;)
