Its wrong for the new owner to ask if you can afford to buy a pedigree animal unless your curcumstances change you should not even ask for one. My brothers rescued a cat and couldnt catch it so the rescue centre came down and took him too the vets and paid for the castration he had the money ready but they would not take it. He has since paid for it to have all its injections and has got a feliway plug to help it.

I can't understand someone forking out for a pedigree cat and then can't afford the neutering cost :? Surely if you have a cat, pedigree or otherwise you expect to incur such costs.

How wrong is that?! If you can afford to buy a pedigree kitten you should be able to pay for all its wants and needs! ;)

Without knowing the whole story I can think of two scenarios:

a) She has suddenly fallen on hard times financially but wants to do the right thing for her cat

or

b) She is cheap .......

I think maybe naivety has a lot to do with it rather than any deliberate desire to deceive (but I tend to look for the good in people/situations . . . )

Heheh I am the same as Yola... I was thinking if she was desperate for just that breed and stretched herself financially to get it or paid over the odds....

Still doesn't excuse it tho I guess :(

As a breeder I would be appalled if one of my kittens new owners had done this. If you can afford to buy a pedigree then you should take on the expense of having it neutered. I do not work due to my kids disabilities and therefore I am on benefit but I have never expected the PDSA etc to pick up the tab for my choice of pedigree cat.
If I was the breeder I would want to know about this and I would then refuse to sell them a kitten. If they can't afford the neutering, which they knew about when buying the kitten, how are they going to cope with unexpected vet bills. I would be really worried for my kittens if it was me.
