Just to try and educate ourselves, well me really as i am pretty much breed ignorant and moggy lover, why dont we start a new comp, a sort of guess the breed game?

All those in favour say aye:lol:

Elaine

Well, I thought we could start off easy at first by posting ppictures and guessing the breed. Once we are all bored of that we could find a way to make it more difficult I guess;)
Suggestions welcome.

Pixie Bob???

Elaine
11-02-2008, 12:04 AM
Correct:D

The Pixie-Bob Cat according to legend, is a hybrid offspring of a domestic cat Also consider:, CASPIAN Horse (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/caspian_horse/574/1), Patterdale Terrier (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/patterdale_terrier/497/1)and a bobcat. The legend has not been suported by DNA testing however, which fails to show that Pixie-Bobs are related to bobcats.
The Pixie-Bob has a large body with big feet, and usually a short, bobbed tail Also consider:, Maine Coon (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/maine_coon_cat/275/1), Turtles (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/turtles/192/1)and a gentle See:, Bichon Frise (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/bichon_frise/224/1), Turtles (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/turtles/192/1)personality. Most Pixie-Bobs are short-haired, with the less common long-hair Pixie-Bob more closely resembling a bobcat. Its markings resemble those of a bobcat, with spots, stripes and swirls. This breed See:, Goffin's Cockatoo (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/goffins_cockatoo/146/1), Hackney Pony (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/hackney_pony/181/1)is currently the only one accepted by any major club to allow polydactyls, cats Including:, Golden Retriever (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/golden_retriever/216/1), Budgie / Budgerigar (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/budgie_budgerigar/140/1)having more than the usual number on toes on each foot (five for the front paws, four for the back). Adult males weigh 16–22 lbs (7–10 kg), and females Try:, Skye Terrier (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/skye_terrier/477/1), Maine Coon (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/maine_coon_cat/275/1)weigh 8–12 lbs (3.5–5.5 kg).
Carol Ann Brewer is credited with the creation of the Pixie-Bob in the mid 1980s. She took two different "Legend cats", believed to be the result of natural breeding between bobcats and domestic cats, Other resources include:, Dog Care Basics (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/dog_care_basics/9/1), Basset Hound (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/basset_hound/223/1) and bred them to create the first Pixie-Bob domestic cat. Consider also:, Patterdale Terrier (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/patterdale_terrier/497/1), Dingo (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/dingo/401/1) This first cat Consider also:, Eclectus Parrots (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/eclectus_parrots/145/1), Amazon Parrots (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/amazon_parrots/133/1)was named Pixie, hence the name Pixie-Bob. DNA testing shows that Pixie-Bob cats See:, CASPIAN Horse (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/caspian_horse/574/1), Boxer Dog (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/boxers/209/1)are domestic, Also consider:, British Shorthair (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/british_shorthair_cat/262/1), Perro de Presa Canario (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/perro_de_presa_canario/492/1) and not wild or an exotic hybrid, as the early advertisements had alleged, but some people are still unsure if this is entirely true. Pixie-Bob cats More interesting articles:, Spiders Level 1 Flex1 (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/spiders_level_1_flex1/88/1), Kooikerhondje (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/kooikerhondje/435/1)share many of the physical and personality characteristics of bobcats, except they are approximately half the size, and do not have some of the wild characteristics. Pixie-Bobs are a paradox. They look and act very much like Bobcats, but are legally defined as domestic cats. More interesting articles:, General Fish Afflictions (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/general_fish_afflictions/128/1), Small Munsterlander Pointer (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/small_munsterlander_pointer/475/1) For a cat And:, Spanish Mastiff (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/spanish_mastiff/456/1), Feeding your Fish (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/feeding_your_fish/549/1)to be considered a Certified TICA Pixie-Bob cats, Including:, Hackney Pony (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/hackney_pony/181/1), Dingo (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/dingo/401/1) they cannot be bred with bobcats, and one of their parents must be traced back to Pixie the cat. Consider also:, Kooikerhondje (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/kooikerhondje/435/1), Climbing gourami (Labyrinth fish) (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/climbing_gourami_labyrinth_fish/531/1)

Physical characteristics
Pixie-Bobs are approximately 50% larger then most domestic cats More interesting articles:, Spanish Mastiff (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/spanish_mastiff/456/1), Boxer Dog (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/boxers/209/1)(which weigh 5.5–16 lbs or 2.5–7 kg). Most Pixie-Bobs have black fur and skin on the bottom of their paws, tipped ears, Including:, Golden Retriever (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/golden_retriever/216/1), CASPIAN Horse (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/caspian_horse/574/1) heavy ear See:, CASPIAN Horse (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/caspian_horse/574/1), Spiders Level 1 Flex1 (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/spiders_level_1_flex1/88/1)hair, black lips, and white fur around the eyes but with black eye skin. Their chins have white fur, but often have black skin under the white fur. Some of their whiskers change from Black (root - about 25%) to White (to the tip - about 75% of the whisker).Tiger-like fur pattern, but often have reddish tones mixed in. Stomach is often reddish-gold in color with some ticking (broken stripes). Most are short-haired, but some are long-haired. Eyes are almond shaped and tilted. Eyes are blue when kittens, See:, British Shorthair (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/british_shorthair_cat/262/1), Patterdale Terrier (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/patterdale_terrier/497/1) then change to green, and finally to gold when several months old (some don't change completely to Gold, but have a Gold with a green tint). Tails Try:, Feeding your Fish (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/feeding_your_fish/549/1), Redbone Coonhound (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/redbone_coonhound/490/1)can be non-existent (rumpy), or 2-4 inches (desired - TICA required), or long tails Also consider:, Turtles (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/turtles/192/1), Feeding your Fish (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/feeding_your_fish/549/1)(Pixie was a long tail). The head is usually-pear shaped. The head and tail See:, Carolina Dog (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/carolina_dog/321/1), Dutch Warmblood (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/dutch_warmblood/344/1)are considered the important characteristics. They grow for 3 years instead of 1 year like most domestic cats. Try:, Dog Care Basics (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/dog_care_basics/9/1), Dingo (http://www.mypets.net.au/flex/dingo/401/1)
