Insecure and Clumsy?

Have you observed your Cats being insecure most of the time? I dont know why but for some reasons my Cat, Alex is insecure whenever I or any of the visitors at my place, try cuddling with her?

She is so cute and cuddly that its really hard to resist one from trying getting close to it.... I will be posting some of the pictures of my Cat, sometime so0on.

Does any one out here has a suggestion on how to make it feel secure and more friendly or playful? :?

I think the answer is, easy does it. Don't leap on her and want to cuddle her all the taime, as it will freak her out and make her nervous and skittish.

It is worth remembering though that some cats are just not natural cuddlers. They will spend time alongside you but won't really ever want to get too close. Doesn't mean they don't love you but it's just the way they are!

Hi, welcome to Catsey! How old is Alex? How long has she been with you? As Yola pointed out some cats aren't naturally that affectionate, and want to be cuddled on their terms and at the times they choose. Take it easy with her and don't rush things...

some cats take a long time to bond and dont take kindly to being picked up wthout authorisation.

My older cat Molly hates being picked up by anybody, it takes a while but you can read they're body laguage and occasionally she will let me pick her up, usually when she wants to go ontop of the wardrobe!

You could always try tempting her onto your lap with some creme on your finger. Cats always think with they're stomaches.

Cassie is 10 now and still hates to be picked up but she comes up onto my lap on her own terms and is then the most lovable cat there is..:D

As the others have said, some cats just do not like being picked up ...... a lot of it has to do with the cat not being properly socialised when it was a tiny kitten...

Denis is only just coming round and he's nearly 4, he comes for cuddles when he wants, if he is tired or just come in and wants a re-grouping moment are his main times other than he just wants to be in the same room as me

I wouldn't worry I spent 23 years with a cat who did his utmost to avoid all human contact. but when he was in the mood he was the most lovable cat but touchy feely not his thing.

Take it easy I think thats why cats go to people who dislike them because they moake no eye contact and ignore the cat. Hence they become a cat challenge.

I agree with what has already been said. Some cats just aren't touchy feely cats and may never be. Alex may come round on her terms so I would definitely take a step back with her and ask everyone else to do the same. Cats like this will usually sit on the knee of someone who doesn't really like cats because they can sense they won't be cuddled by that person.
Each cat has its own personality just like people and after all some people don't like being cuddled either.
