View Full Version : How tall is your cat?

Cats

I would be interested to know how tall your cat is at its shoulder because the only information I can find about domestic cat heights in books is that the average is 12 inches (30 cm) - not very useful! If you can give me your cat's shoulder height in cm I would be very grateful and can you also tell me whether it is a male or a female?

I look forward to hearing from you. :)

Hi Cats
Mine aren't fully grown yet so I dont think there's much point in giving you there hights.
I'm sure as I speek the guys are measuring there babies for you. Should be an interesting thread.

Cats height would vary from breed to breed, even moggies can be different.

Do you require this information for a college course or something similar?

I just measured Onyx, my little black stray, and she is just a whisker under 11"

At one time, not so long ago, she would have run a mile Eileen. Let alone let you measure her. Well done:-D

Thanks! She has turned into a little lovebug! Wants her fuss every day as well as her food. She did look a bit startled when I measured her, but she got an extra treat....the dry food hat Leia hates!

Ok Mine are as follows, the moggies:

Tucker (Adult Male): 33cm

Colin (Male 6 months): 26cm

Princess (Female 7 months): 24cm

Vitaani (Adult Female): 28cm

Jennie (Adult Female): 29cm

And Kiara, a Siamese (Adult Female): 29cm

ETA: Close as I could get as surprise surprise they didn't really co-operate and they were definately not standing like the dogs will, haha! So could be a wee bit out. I always thought Jennie looked a bit bigger than Kiara but the measured the same. :? She definately weighs more mind! Tarny is definately the smallest adult anyway, that's for sure.

And now they all think i'm crazy and a bit disgruntled that I woke them. :-D

Apart from the fact I haven't got a ruler/tape measure to hand, my curled up, sleeping bundles of fluff would curse me to the end of time if I woke them to measure their height. But they're persians so they have little short legs LOL!

Maybe tomorrow

Thanks everyone for the massive response to my question - I didn't expect so many answers so quickly! A special thank you to random for giving me the heights of so many cats - thanks a lot!

Ok managed to get Bubbles lol she's 27cm. This is once she'd decided the tape measure was neither food nor toy

Fizz however thinks it's an instrument of torture and keeps hiding when she sees it so will take me a while to get her used to it ;)

Grete, mine doubles as a toy sometimes: it's one of those skinny metal ones that retracts very rapidly when you push the button on the case. All of my cats thought it was a toy...try to catch it before it whizzes back inside! Even Ms Leia-Lightning-Paws cannot catch it! :-D

Lol, Random, why do we bother buying them toys; they have more fun with odd things like that, and boxes, and bags, and pea pods, and a gazillion other things..:-D
