View Full Version : Mildred's babies....

Fran

Well what a long night/day it's been! Mildred started to have contractions at 4.30am this morning she delivered baby number one at 5.39am, two hours later and many contractions later she was tiring and it was obvious that she wasn't going to deliver the next baby. Got her to the vet and she had emergency C section at 8am this morning. The vet thought the baby she had been struggling to deliver would have died, it was breech and presenting very awkwardly plus which it turns out her cervix was not fully dilated, heaven knows how she managed to deliver that first baby :? The vet staff were able to resuccitate the stuck baby. So................She is proud mummy to 7 kittens  (don't think anybody guessed that many?) but we are not out of the woods, the babies were very sluggish following the anaesthetic and are proving difficult to latch on for feeding.
Just want to say a huge thank you to Kay who was there on the other end of the phone for me at silly oclock this morning. Thank you Kay x

Not entirely sure of sexes yet it hasn't been my priority but she has..
1 Oriental black tortie girl
1 Oriental blue tortie tabby girl
1 Oriental black
1 Oriental blue
3 Siamese.

Will post some piccies later ;)

which one was the first and which was the second causing all the trouble?

The first kitten, the one born at home was the blue Oriental tortie tabby. It was a Siamese baby holding up the proceedings!

lol @ Elaine

I think 7 kittens is quite enough without having to produce a basset hound pup out of there too lol

Congratulations Fran and Mildred on such a gorgeous litter. You certainly are going to have fun around christmas time Fran when you have the whole lot of them running around and causing havoc.
Will the christmas tree be up this year i wonder lol
Was Bliss actually nursing some of Mildred's babies for her?

At least now you can rest and take it easy Fran. Good luck with the babies and hope they continue to do well and get stronger. Looking forward to the updated pics.

Not sure about the Christmas tree yet!!!

Yes, Bliss was nursing Mil's babies for her. Mil was a little sore and unsettled after the section and wasn't keen to feed them at first, so Bliss hearing their hunger cries ran to their rescue

Aww thanks all! The babies seem to be doing very well, some have gained weight some have maintained birth weight but no weight losses and considering the C section that is very good news. Mil has taken to motherhood very well, she's very protective of her babies but is happy to let Bliss in to help her

Eileen, the blue torbie girl is lovely, nice big 'wingnuts' at present :-D You can see her tabby markings coming through quite nicely and I think she will be a spotted tabby as I can see tiny little spots on her sides but her tortie markings may take a while to come through, she has to be a tortie from this mating, so it will be lovely to see how she colours up. I will try and get some piccies of them before they really start to open thier eyes.

Thank you all for your good wishes

One of the babies is not looking so good today, it's lost a little weight and just doesn't seem right, I'm making sure it gets plenty of time at the milk bar without hassle from the others and I have topped it up a little this evening but I think serious healing vibes are needed for this baby :( We always new it would be unlikely that a litter of 7 would survive but the really sad thing is this is the black tortie girl that hubby wanted to keep :( Out of 12 kittens between both Bliss and Mil, we only have the two girls and it's just sod's law that the one that doesn't look like making it is a girl :(
