I was peacefully reading the Sunday papers after lunch and heard a commotion in the kitchen: Leia came dashing out with a mouse in her jaws! By the time I grabbed the camera and followed her it was dead, so I let her play with it a bit. I like to encourage her to catch mice: do not like them in the house! She's a good mouser for a house cat!

It was a pretty good-sized mouse, but not as big as that awful rat she caught a while back!

My sentiments exactly, Dawn! It must have been a rather thick mouse to come in a house with a resident cat....

And she was born in an apartment, her mom never taught her to hunt, and she's strictly an indoor cat. Isn't instinct marvellous? This makes 3 mice and one rat she's gotten...I'm very proud of my little hunter; and the nice thing is that she promptly kills them, so there isn't that torture thing, which I don't like. She can, and does, bat them around afterwards, that doesn't bother me at all. She's earned it!
