Mia's Babies

Mia also had her babies throughout the night last night.
Sadly the first baby didnt make it as he was quite large and breech and got stuck. It took Mia quite some time to deliver him and despite efforts to revive him it didnt work :(

She then went on to have two healthy babies both weighing a respective 111g and 120g. They were delivered fine.

They've all been given the all clear from the vet. Mum has a slight temperature and is a bit puffy but should settle. They think its from the trauma of the first delivery.

All babies are blue as it was a pure blue mating and mum is very happy with her two little boys (we think). One is undecided whether he is a girl or a boy :lol: Even the vet wasnt sure so we might have to watch this space on that one.

I will be if one is a girl Dawn but not if they are both boys. I'm not in a position to keep any more of my kittens for a while due to having a baby myself and needing to cut down on my workload as it is.
Even if one turns out to be show / neuter quality i am still letting them go as I have a friend who has been waiting for a show / neuter blue boy since I started breeding so I know he will be in good hands. Plus there is the bonus i get to see him at the shows and watch his hopeful progress :)

Mia is much better today and a lot more settled and calm.
she is feeding her babies well and loves them to bits.
She has been out of the pen for a few intervals throughout the day and had a good cuddle and lots of TLC
The babies are adorable and have gained weight since yesterday which is good.
Had to put nail polish on one of their claws so i can tell them apart lol

Will post some new pics in the next couple of days. Just been letting the babies get accustomed to having their eyes open.

They are doing really well at the moment (touch wood). They are a right pair of little chubbies. Baby boy 1 started out at 111g and he is now a whopping 286g. Baby boy 2 started out at 120g and he is slightly behind at a very respectable 275g. Those weight gains are in just a week and 4 days as they havent been weighed today.

They are absolutely gorgeous and I can't help but cuddle and kiss them they are so lovely. Their little faces are so chubby and squishy. They certainly take after their dad for their frames. If the size they are now is anything to go by they will be little bruisers in no time lol

I have the camera batteries on charge as we speak ;)

Hope you like them. Hubby has nicknamed them Jake and Elwood (the blues brothers) how corny lol. The baby on the left hand side of the second pic always has his tongue stuck out for some reason. He even sleeps like that.

Here is a new photo of one of Mia's babies. Sorry there is only the one but its taken me a week to upload this onto photobucket.
This is Harley and he was 7 weeks old when his photo was taken. His brother Midnight looks identical to him but is a little bit smaller than Harley. Their names have been chosen by their new owners. We have Ragapost Midnight Blue and Ragapost Harleys Dream (I think).
The kittens are now 9 weeks old and hopefully going for their first vaccinations this week at some point. They are eating well and charging all over the place like lunatics.
Mia has a real job keeping them under control and is constantly calling at them and telling them off. She has been a fantastic mum and still allows them to feed from her even though they are eating and drinking by themselves. I think they enjoy the closeness.

Thanks everyone. I am really pleased with these little darlings as they are my first totally home baked kitties.
They are from my own stud boy and my own girl which makes them more special to me.
These babies are going to live with previous kittens from another litter we had here so they will have older brothers to play with when they get there. Its nice as we know who they are going to and where which is a lot less of a worry.
They are both the image of their dad with their chunkieness and teddy bear looks but have their mum's playful personality.

Here are some updated photo's of Mia's babies who are now known as Midnight and Lex.
Both of them have gone to wonderful homes and we are kept updated regularly on their progress.
Midnight went to join Reggie a kitten from a previous litter of ours and they are like long lost brothers and love each other so much.
Enjoy them.
