Leila's baby.

At last Leila has given birth. She kept me waiting a week past her due date but today at 11.55am she produce her kitten. At 2.20pm she then produce a placenta that contain 2 undeveloped embryos measuring just 3mm each. These would have been identical twins but they obviously weren't meant to be. Leila is very settled and baby has had several little feeds. I am not 100% sure that she has finifshed but we will have to wait and see. The first three pics were taken 20 minutes after birth and the last two about 7 hours after. Hope you like him, well I think him :oops:, things have been known to change on that score. I am not sure what colour as yet. He could either be a colourpoint or a cream self. Time will tell.

Well welcome to the World little man and I have to say the third picture is that of a Mommy cat defending her baby I would not want to cross her. Isn't he fluffy I imagine thats what long haired kitten are fluffy. :)

How long do you wait to see if there are any more then Kay?

Thanks Kazz Leila is a brilliant mum and very proud. I have known of kittens arrive 24 hours after the first. I will take her to the vets in the morning just to get her checked over.

I hope he grows from strength to strength as well Mags. He looks quite typy. I am glad you like the pics.

I cant believe how furry he is too. I thought they might be like the ragdolls and have shorter fur and it get longer with age. How old will he be when his colours come in Kay?

He is very healthy and was a good weight at 102g. He is Leila's heaviest baby. He has had several feeds and is very content inbetween times. He doesn't even cry when Leila goes for some food . If you stroke him he licks the air just like his dad Tate.

It all depends on what colour he is. If he is a creampoint it an take several weeks before it starts coming in whereas if he is a seal it could be around a wek old. I am pretty certain he isn't a redpoint as his coat colour isn't white enough. Of course he could be a ream self and not a colourpoint at all :? :?

Oh Kay - he's just a darling! I kind of hope he'll be a cream self with super orange eyes like my darling Darcy. Isn't he just the sweetest little thing though. You're SO lucky (and so dedicated and brave) to breed such beauties.

May the little one grow strong and healthy. I hope Leila's well too :D

Unfortunately Lyle gave up the will to live at 3.00am today Wednesday 7th just going in to his 5th day.
