What kind of fence is it? Wooden? Can we have some before and after pics :D

EmmaG
31-10-2007, 09:47 PM
Kazz, yes the border plan you helped me design is what we are going to base the garden on, it might get tweeked along the way, hopefully the fence will be delievered next week and then we can start putting it up, it will take a few weekends to do.

Hi Yola, the fence is wooden, shiplap but with an integrated lattice top, the panels are 6 foot, and we have chosen two syles one convex and the other concave so it will be a wave effect!!

Yes, that does sound nice! I have a similar wave thing going on, but with trellis tops on posts above brick walls. Are you going to paint/stain or leave it natural Emma? Are you/OH putting it up yourselves or getting some one to do it?

Look forward to seeing the finished thing!

EmmaG
31-10-2007, 11:26 PM
Yola, as the panels are treated we are going to leave them natural. The suppliers told us a good tip of drilling three holes (at an angle) at the bottom of the panel to let any water drain from them, they seem to be good quality. Yes me, OH and my dad are putting up the fence, we have 32 holes to dig!!! lol

Thanks Eileen :) My dad and OH are putting up the fence and my OH's brother in law is coming over on Sunday to help dig holes :) so there will be 4 of us digging holes :) as long as the weather isn't too bad, luckily it has been raining so the ground won't be too hard.

EmmaG
25-11-2007, 05:40 PM
Thanks everybody, we are very pleased with it, it looks better than we thought it would, and it is higher which is nice. The wave isn't 100% accurate as our garden slopes down slightly.

Another picture, we got in 9 panels, another 6 to finish this side and then we have 16 panels for the other side, which we are hoping to do next weekend.

That's looking really good :) The wave effect is really attractive and the fact it's not level just makes it more attractive IMO :)

The seasick squirrels comment made me laugh ;)

That looks smashing Emma I bet its cold though being out there its when you stop I have found trouble brews in the cold dept...:)

I love the wave effect though it will look great, the side you're just starting on can only look better though - what do the neighbours think - well chuffed I imagine.

EmmaG
02-12-2007, 06:07 PM
Thanks Alex, yes we are very pleased with it.

Kazz, as you say it is fine when you are working but when you stop you realise how cold it is, although today wasn't too bad, but it was very wet this morning. The neighbours who's side we have done are very pleased, although they do have a lylandia fence up one side but it has made it look a lot nicer and we can still talk through the fence where it dips down.

Hopefully weather permitting, my dad will finish off the other side this week. The garden is so muddy now though!! lol

EmmaG
02-12-2007, 06:29 PM
Another pic of the side that hasn't been done, you can see he already has a lot of plants up against his wire fence, and he doesn't want us to take down the wire fence so our new fence will go against his fence.

Thanks Mags, I will post up some more photos once the other side has been done. Over Christmas I will hopefully get the borders in, going to be a lot of work though as we have heavy clay soil.

Thanks Eileen :) clay soil is a bit back breaking isn't it?? lol

Ah - but think of the calories you're burning Emma :-D The fence looks excellent - looks like quality manufacture too - should last a good few years :D

EmmaG
02-12-2007, 10:25 PM
Thanks Yola, a few packet of crisps and mince pies were eaten today, to give me energy of course!!! lol

I have looked at soo many types of fencing, some of them a ridiculous price (£70 + a panel) and we needed 31!!!! not including posts and boards. These ones costs us £30 per panel which I think is an excellent price and cheaper than getting a normal panel and putting a smaller lattice panel on top.

EmmaG
06-12-2007, 12:04 PM
a few more pics, now of the other side (taken though bedroom window lol) just a few more panels to put up now and it will be finished.

It looks excellent Emma, that was a brilliant choice of panels.. :D

Your garden looks completely different now the tree has gone..:)

EmmaG
06-12-2007, 02:56 PM
Thanks Grete :)

Yes Mags it does look different with the tree gone, the kitchen is nice and bright, you don't really realise at that time how dark it is. Very happy with the choice of panels.

Sometime over Christmas, all of the plants in the borders at the top of the bungalow will be moved into new borders along the fence :)

Kazz

Been away at the weekend, and in a magazine I picked up I saw a great photo of a garden very similar to how I would like ours. I will scan the photo in later and post it up :)

Here we go, I love this photo :) very similar to what I would like. With a seating area at the bottom of the garden, borders on each side, but we would have a patio area at the top of the garden
