I wonder if any of you know how the Pussy Willow came by its feline name. This story is the so called legend behind the name.
Once a famyard cat gave birth to a litter of beautiful kittens. She tried desperately to hide them from the farmer fearing what he would do to them. Unfortunately the farmer found the and threw the into the stream that flowed through his land. The mother cat was so distraught and ran up and down the banks of the stream crying for her drowning babies. Atree that branches overhung the stream took pity on the mother cat and trailed its branches into the water and saved the kittens from drowning. The tree was rewarded the next spring, and every subsequent spring, by the appearance of beautiful soft buds on its branches.
And that is how the Pussy Willow got it's lovely name
