Well I figured that I would post some new pics of the Button Quails since they have grown so much. They are now almost 8 weeks old.

Mine
Female (Yin Bo) is at the top and the male (Chen) is underneath

And this one is to show how much bigger the female is than the male

They're still very sweet.
Do they interact with you?

Most definately. You have to get them acustom to it just like with any bird but yes they do cuddle. They are not a perching bird so you cant have them perching on your finger. I hold mine by their feet and just let them hang out. I know it sounds mean/odd but its the safest and easiest place to hold. Just like they do with Chickens, with the feet or around the body. In this pic she was hanging out with me, all bedded down in my hand, last night.

Those are lovely little birds, so bright eyed and alert-looking! I'd never seen that type of quail before!

Thanks Mags :D They are pretty dainty and a really awesome small bird! Yin Bo can have an egg anytime now. :D

O and I wanted to explain their names. They are Chinese names cause that is where these birds originated. Yin Bo means: Precious Female Force. And Chen means: Great Treassure.

Jess, dumb question, but what do you do with quail eggs? I would think it would take quite a lot to make scrambled eggs...??? I've seen jars of pickled quail eggs in the gourmet food section of the market, but never tried them.....

Yeah their eggs are tiny. I think I may try and hatch the first couple of batches and see how that goes. If it goes ok and who knows I might be able to make a little money off them :p, I might keep it up. Otherwise I will discard the eggs.
