Love the pics, Moli! We have starlings too, but none of the others you've shown. What sort of dove is that? Very pretty!

Its just an ordinary pigeon DM, nothing special, they are looked on as pests here...:(

Good heavens, that doesn't look anything like the common pigeons that are a pest here in the cities!! Some people call them flying rats! That really resembles a dove (well, technically pigeons are rock doves), but that looks more like our mourning dove....wish I could get a pic of one for you, but they fly off when I try to.....

Whenever I hear about badgers, I think of Mr. Badger in Wind in the Willows! I loved that book as a child!

Just did a Google, and your wood pigeons are definitely what we call the common pigeon here! The one you posted a pic of is a much more attractive bird! Thanks for the explanation!

Wow, thanks, Moli! How did you do that?? That's exactly what we have here..... by the thousands!!!!We have them here too, wood pigeons, but I am sure they have different colours in them...
Think my original picture was what they call a collared dove, but are still pests here...

The wood/feral/common pigeons do come in all colors .browns, greys, bluish tints. Awful pests. Odd, but when I saw your pic I did think it might be a collared dove, but didn't Google as you said it was a pigeon. That lovely little bird is a pest?
I love our mourning doves, their call is so different, and I like the way their wings make a whistling sound when they fly off...and you tend to think of doves as peaceful....you should see them squabbling at the feeder! :-D

We have a lot of Pine trees near us, and they nest in them every spring.....One of them has an extra note in its call, cannot remember which one it is though..
