It is amazing that in four years time this beautiful black foal will be as white as his mum...:-)

Yes Eileen almost all Grey horses are born dark and pale as they get older, you do get some white ones born.
This Horse is called "Holy Bull" He was a 3yr old race horse in this pic.

Yes it's true, white (grey) horses are most often born dark and lighten as they grow older....

Interesting - learnt another thing from coming here!!
I had a TB gelding years ago that was registered as bay, which is a dark brown on his papers and by the time I bought him when he was 7 years old, he was grey....

It still amazes me now and I've know about it since I was 7 :lol: most grey horses are born a very dark steel grey, and gradually lighten as they age - much the same as people going grey really. This is one reason why white horses are called 'greys' and also because they have black skin. The only true white horses are albinos, as they are the only 'whites' with pink skin, and born completely white.
