Just weighed both cats tonight:-
Chloe = 6lbs
Misty = 10lbs
Both cats are the same age.
Does anyone think 6lbs is too small for a three year old cat? Or is 10lbs too heavy :?

Denis is 3 and he weighs 12.2llbs but he isn't fat just heavy. I think it's like human depends on their frame and activity

But Chloe looks thin - can grab her by her back bone towards her rear as there is a definate place to grab there - vet said she ok, but I feel she is definately too thin.
Cats are like humans and do vary in weight/size and being prone to weight gain. For example, Claude and Clooney are the same age but out of different parents...Clooney weighs well in excess of a stone in weight :shock: where as Claude is much slighter and more muscular in appearance and weighs more like 12 or 13 lbs. He's out of a slight mum where as Clooney's mum and dad where both quite portly so I think genetics plays a big part...
You have to remember also that on the whole boys are heavier than girls...

I understand boys are heavier, but 6lbs????
No cat on this forum is that light (Other than kittens of course).

The only thing you can do is ensure she gets extra food. As long as the vet says she's healthy then I suppose that's all that matters really and I wouldn't worry too much

My Lucky was always a very petite and very healthy girl, she only ever weighed around 5/6lbs and lived to a ripe old age of 18

Thanks Fran, you have put my mind at rest a bit - I think I am putting her behaviour together with her small size and coming up with more problems!!
Will see if I can get her to eat just a little bit more tho :oops:
