I loved her pic, and, monkey see, monkey do, I had to dig out an old pic of me at about 6 years old holding our next door neighbor's cat, Precious. She was our cat Scamper's sister, and unfortunately was victim of a RTA,,,:(
But at least in Random's day they had color photography...this old B & W pic has faded to sepia like a Civil War photo....and, no, I am not that old.....:-D

Yep, really me! Squinting a bit because no one knew I was badly nearsighted until I went to school and they found out I couldn't see the blackboard! Precious was a gorgeous cat; she was a light ginger and did have that plumy tail. Her brother,my cat was a dark ginger, his fur wasn't quite as long as hers, Notice the bird feeder in the upper left background,... I grew up with birds also.....

Precious, unlike her brother who lived to be 17, had no street smarts, and met a car...I was told she's run away; I was in my late teens before I found out what had really happened. they were trying to spare me, I guess,,,,,

You know, Fran, you wouldn't think something like that would bother me after all these years, but it still does...... she was buried in the back yard ......
