Well I finally spoke to Caspurr's breeder tonight. She said she didn't know what calichi virus was. Never come accross it before. But was away to research it..... Strange...

That sounds a bit fishy to me.
Is she going to get back to you?

Hmmmm, there's something not quite right about breeder who doesn't know what Calicivirus is :?

All I can say is that for a breeder she doesn't know a lot about cats!!!!

I know. but what can I say? I'm bamboozeled. She's been breeding for 15 years????????????? She was away to look it up

I could have quite easily have lost him! Could you imagine the despair? Not worth thinking about. God he was so ill. Beggars belief

Is she going to get back to you once she has "researched" it?
If so, get yourself armed with all the questions you want answered as well as what you want to say about it all.

Wasn't your vet going to contact her vet to see if her cats had been treated for it? It boggles the mind that she's supposedly unfamiliar with it..... I think I smell the proverbial rat here.....

But my vet never got an answer. I said my vet would like to answer any questions she may have but there wasn't really any interest.

Wouldn't the other kittens in the litter have been affected too? :?

Yes, Mags. If one had it then the chances are that they all had it. However, not all calici virus carriers show symptoms. In fact some can carry and shed the virus but never appear to be ill.

I can't believe that a breeder of 15 years has never heard of calici though - that cannot possibly be true. Whether or not she has ever had it in her house is irrelevant, she would have heard of it. :(

I'd be tempted to call her again in a day or so Jac and see what her "research" has shown. :?

I will do Charlie. I thought she may have called me back today. There again she may be contacting all the other kittens owners to see how there cats are. There again probably not.
There again there's alot of if's but's and maybe's
