And my resident catbird! A bit blurry, but he's very hard to catch outside of the bushes where he hangs out...and sings! They have been nesting in my yard since the 60's!

He's slate gray with a black cap; one of the mimic thrushes (like the mockingbird). Both sexes are the same color.

Indeed he is, Moli! He has a beautiful lyric song, but can also make a noise that sounds exactly like a cat mewing! I've been fooled myself by him a few times over the years! :-D I think he's the great great great grandson of the one who started nesting in my yard years ago! The little fledglings are so cute when they are learning to fly...wouldn't take the cats out in the garden until they could! :D

Eileen your pictures are stunning really stunning. You are a a good photographer - you have the eye for a picture.

The bird sounds like a nice member of the extended family. Maybe he chats to Onyx :)

Awww, thanks, Karen! I have gone a bit mad since I got this camera! And the birds are a part of the family too; wish I could get more pics, especially the mourning doves. the bluejay and woodpecker, but the dratted things will not sit still for a photo shoot!!! :-D
