View Full Version : Izzy's Babies Have Arrived

Izzy's babies have finally arrived after an awful day.

Mum started in labour this morning at 4am had her first baby at 8.15 and then next one at 11am. Then nothing until 2.30 and another one at 4.30. She then continued to push and strain up until i got her into the vets at 7.50.
Two oxytocin injections later and loads more pushing a still born baby arrived at 8.20. We finally left the vets at 9.15.

The surviving babies are all very small none of them weigh over 80g and the smallest being only 60 so fingers crossed they will make it and gain strength. God knows Izzy deserves to have her babies after the day she has had.

Will post some pictures in a few days when things have settled and mum is reassured she isnt going anywhere else to be squeezed and poked bless her.

Strong vibes requested for her kittens to make it through

hi everyone
All the babies made it through the night and have gained weight which is a postive sign.
Izzy is an absolutely brilliant mummy and she lays there purring away with her arms round them cuddling them close. Will have to try and get it on photo but dont want to upset her too much just yet.
Slept in the spare room with her last night just in case anything happened with her having the injections at the vets but she was fine and seems back to her normal self again today.
Fingers crossed and keep those healing vibes coming they are working wonders Thankyou :)

Sarah - lots of strong thoughts to you and Izzy and her surviving babies. Your dedication is to be admired, I hope Izzy continues to nurse and the babies continue to thrive!

Hi everyone
Izzy is doing much better and is recovered from her ordeal. She is nursing the babies wonderfully and they are just about constantly attached to her she is marvellous. I think it helps she eats a lot of dried food and drinks plenty of water which in turn aids the milk supply.
The babies have all gained at least 30g or so in the last couple of days which is brilliant so I think they are tough little cookies and are here to stay fingers crossed.

Awww lovely piccy Sarah! What colour babies has she had?

sarahd
10-06-2007, 11:05 PM
Well Fran this is the complication lol

In my inspection she has two blue's could be blue cream but they arent showing any cream as yet although Mally's did :? We have one definate Cream male. Then we have a lilac.

On speaking to another breeder Izzy cannot have blue girls only blue cream but like I said they dont have cream and its not possible for her to have a lilac as she doesnt carry it even though dad is lilac but she has one lol and she's a girl. Izzy has lilac in her pedigree but its in the 3rd generation so its not usual for it to carry through from that far back although it could be possible i suppose. Its definately not blue its a totally different shade and colour

So make of that what you will  I am going to ring the GCCF tomorrow to make doubly sure of what she can and cant have as they have someone there who deals purely with colours and genetics.

13-06-2007, 08:59 PM
Well I have spoken to the GCCF today and it seems the breeder who was rabbiting on about colours and genetics etc was telling me a pack of rubbish.
From the mating we did with Izzy (blue cream) and Lewi (lilac self) Izzy can in fact have cream, blue and lilac males and also blue, blue cream, cream, lilac and lilac cream girls.
So now my dilemma is are the blues and lilacs selfs or torties lol

Well at the moment good old Izzy has some foster kittens.
A friend's raggie had babies yesterday morning and unfortunately is so daunted by the whole experience she is petrified of the kittens and won't go near them bless her.
Izzy and i have taken the two smallest and they are suckling away like troopers.
Izzy thinks its marvellous her brood have expanded albeit temporarily lol I think the large tin of applause could have had something to do with it though lol

Here's a quick pic. Can you spot the raggie babies ;) lol

Here are some pics of the babies close up
Firstly we have
Ragapost Diamond Belle (Belle) she is staying here as she is my first homebred baby as it were and she's lilac but could be lilac cream lol

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o303/leedslassie6/Lilacbaby1week.jpg

Then we have Ragapost Blueberry Dream who is blue but could be blue cream lol
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o303/leedslassie6/Littleblue1week.jpg
She's like no photo's please lol

Then we have cream baby boy
http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o303/leedslassie6/Creambaby1week.jpg

And finally blue baby girl 2 who's photo for some reason wont upload

Now you can see where i'm coming from as there is a definate difference in colour in the lilac and the blue kitten.

Well Sally
It seem the raggie babies may be going home back to their real mummy today :(

Of course thats wonderful news for them but i will miss having the little babies here and am sure Izzy will too. Their mum seems so much more settled now and is accepting the other babies she still has with her so fingers crossed she will take these two back also. These babies were the smaller and the weaker of the litter of 6 so we felt it best to put them with another cat rather than hand feed just so they got the benefit of a cats milk.
Glad you all like the babies

Yours are wee sweeties. The breeder wants a wrap on her knuckles for not knowing her genetics though. Please keep us posted.

Here are some updated pics of Izzy's litter. They are 7 weeks this thursday and are growing fast. They are lovely little kittens and all have wonderful personalities.

This is Donald. As you can see he is turning out to be a real stunner and I have been having a conversation with his new owner about trying him on the show bench. So watch this space.

Then we have Blossom. She is a little cutie too and loves her cuddles.

Then Diamond Belle (pet name undecided as yet).

And finally Crystal Moonlight (pet name to be decided). These two little girls are going to the same home and will be together which is nice for them.

Just a quick update on the babies.

They had their first vaccines last week and touch wood have had no complications or reactions from them. They go for the second one on 4th september and then all being well leave for their new homes the weekend after.

Donald is still a stunner and getting more so by the day, he is going to be a very handsome fellow when he grows up. Blossom hasnt really changed and still looks very much the same. Diamond Belle who we think is going to be called Tamara has grown and is a little monkey and very curious. Finally Crystal Moonlight who is to be called Tallulah is still the teeny of the family but certainly makes up for it in stamina and energy. She might be tiny but runs around and eats with the best of them bless her.

Will have a photo shoot and post some pics before they go

Then we have Belle and Donald heading off to look for mischeif.

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o303/leedslassie6/DSCF1847.jpg

Then bless her we have little Tallulah the little tiny dot of the family who is not very photogenic at all but very sweet all the same. Her and Belle are going to the same home together so will be there to keep each other company.
