or a gumboil; Dad says it might be a gargoyle on my bum but my nice vet said it was a submandibular abcess brewing! Can you spot my swollen face? It doesn't hurt too much and I'm still my normal hungry purry self. Mum is ashamed that she didn't spot it earlier ..... she gave me some chicken!

Aww poor boy, he has got a swelling on one side, but if he is still eating, cannot be bothering him...What will they do with it DM..AB's???

He's had a long-acting a/b jab Moli. It wasn't 'ripe' enough to lance this morning (I think all vets love getting out the lancet and slicing a gooey, puss-ey abcess; the highlight of their day!)
He said it's quite a size so may still need to burst but it will do it naturally and unspectacularly of its own accord - just bathe with salt water then.
Obviously we have to go back if it doesn't improve

Awww what a shame bless. But if he's still eating it cant be bothering him that much. I hope he gets better very quickly. xx

Awwww poor love :( What does the vet think caused it?

There's a little bald patch with a tiny pinprick - maybe a wayward claw whilst playing with his new friend (I cannot imagine Bentley fighting with anybody!) or maybe a scratch from the hedge? - lots of prickly blackthorn and hawthorn.
It's not a tooth thing - just me using an old-fashioned word to describe his swelling

DM Just a tip not that you need it I would keep an eye out once Oz started getting abssess (usually through fighting) he got them more often I was always on the look out for them. Got a dab hand at the warm salt water treatment he took it very well. But sometimes I noticed tem only when they were worth lancing - he never suffered any ill effects from them. Just I worried.

Hope Bentley is feeling much better.

Yes I agree Kazz - in my experience some cats seem to be very prone to them and some very resistant. I'll watch out from now on
