A good neighbour of mine (who knows Kiara) has said she has seen her this morning, IN NEXT DOOR'S HOUSE! She said she thought she'd saw her pawing at the window, and someone picked her up. She thought they must have been minding her for some reason for me until she saw my poster. We've both been round to the house just now and no answer. We shouted through the letterbox for my baby but heard nothing. These people KNOW this is my cat, why would they have her?

I'm so mad/confused/upset/relieved all at the same time, i'm not sure what to do. Should I ring the police? :?

ETA: We don't get on with the neighbours at all. The man who lives there is ok, but his wife and younger children are, er, NOT NICE.

I'd be inclined to call the police and see what they can do, as your neighbor is certain it was Kiara!

Yep, I agree, esp. if you do not get on....they may be doing it for fun in their eyes, but certainly not fun in anyone elses esp. yours - how can people be like this, poor little one must be so worried if shes locked in a strange house x

Kel if it really is her great. You now know she is fine, well and alive.
Now go and phone the police!!!

I have just rang the police and they said they don't deal with animals! I went mad and said this is a THEFT and they said do I have proof she didn't just wander into their house! They told me to ring the RSPCA, so I rang the RSPCA and they have said it's not a matter of urgency if she isn't in direct danger! Can you believe this????? They have my baby in their house!

So after that I rang the police back and they will send an officer out in DUE COURSE!

Oh i'm fuming now.

Jac

Hopefully she'll jump out it. Fingers crossed.

I'm going to go over and call her and see if she can get into that room and out the window. If I can't get her out that way i'm going to go down the police station and kick up a fuss. I hope it really was her and that she's still in there.

That's awful if that is your baby. Just make sure that you are sure it's her before you jump in with both feet. Can you see in any of their windows??

This did happen to a friend of mine, her next door neighbour took one of her cats and she could see it through the window, but they neighbours denied it and said that it was their cat. The police couldn't do anything. :(

Just caught up with this thread, how awful....Hopfully she will get out if someone opens the door, to me that is theft, and a police matter....!

Go careful Random, you only have someone else's word that it is Kiara in there (albeit in good faith). Don't do anything that the neighbours could accuse you of trespassing on their property. :?

You will see a light on in there when they come back, you could go round there then. I know you're worried sick over Kiara, but take care, don't do anything rash;)

I hope for your sake it is her... ((((hugs))))

Fran
25-05-2007, 09:31 PM
Good luck, as Mags says do tread carefully. I hope you get her back tonight. If it were me I'd wait up for them to come home and then confront them..and explain that she has been seen in their window...

yola
25-05-2007, 10:18 PM
Yes, I too would say tread with caution. Make sure YOU know for certain it's her before you make any moves. That said, you must be beside yourself with worry about Kiara but don't jeaopardise things by acting in haste. At least she is safe, warm and fed in someone elses house, even though they have taken her when they shouldn't :?

Oh thats horrible!

Have you been round to the house when they are in?

Take a tape recorder with you (if ya have one) and ask for your cat back and see what she says... then take the recording to the police if she wont give her back, n say oi listen to this...!
Just a thought

Hope you get her back soon.

SHE'S BACK!

In the end I waited 'til they came home and me and my neigbour were in the garden talking about how we were waiting for the police (knowing they were next door and could hear us). We went into the house and 10 mins later lo and behold, I hear Kiara meowing outside. She was trapped in their garden so I just climbed over the fence (about 6ft) and got her back.

She was really really noisy and obviously frightened. She was starving hungry aswell when we got her in.

Tucker has stopped crying, he must be happy she's back too. I don't know what to do about the neighbours at all, but i'll have to watch every single one of my pets like hawks. I am looking to move out this year or next anyway, but maybe sooner rather than later now.

How frightening for you!! I'm so pleased she's back and happy to be home!

That must have been a scary experience for you; what is it with people, can't they just get their own cat instead of trying to take someone else's???? :?

Thanx everyone, I can't tell you how happy I am to have her back! :-D

I also can't express how mad I am at the 'autorities' for their lack of help in the situation.

Thanx to everyone here for all your support, I don't know what i'd have done without you all. x

I think to some people they are 'just pets', but I think most of us here hold them in a much deeper place in our hearts. Last year these same neighbours had a tabby kitten. They got it at 7 weeks old and by 8 weeks old they let it outside on it's own all day! It 'went missing' about a week later. I think someone must have took it in and I sincerely hope they did in this matter. My father always says I over react but i'd certainly never leave an 8 week old kitten out to fend for itself!

Too right Kel! I think they've got a bit of a misguided idea about pet ownership. I think when the dust has settled some anonymous leaflets on responsible pet care through the letter box are in order

dandysmom
26-05-2007, 10:45 PM
Trouble is, Yola, the people who need the info about responsible pet care are the ones least likely to read them! :(
