Aww thank you so much :-)

She is not at all impressed that she has not been allowed to eat this evening  I will feel so awful leaving her there tomorrow as I know she'll give me those eyes as if to say why are you leaving me here again :( Wouldn't be so bad if I would be getting her home tomorow but she has to stop in at least 24 hours after the biopsy :(

My biggest worry is the anaesthetic with the problems she had last time and I will be on tenter hooks until I hear that she has come round from it ok. I know that they have all the senior staff draughted in for her op but I will still worry, I am grateful for the positive vibes, thank you x

Is her op in the morning Fran?

Is her op in the morning Fran?

I'm not sure Mags, I'll drop her of with my vet at my local branch at 10 am, she will take her through to the hospital at 11.30 after she has finished consulting and the time of op will depend on what the other vets have got in and when the majority of the big wigs are available to do the op so it could be anything from lunch time until around 3 pm really

Yes me too Mags, Ordinarily the vet would allow me to meet her at the hospital later on after she had finished consulting so that she could spend more time at home and less at the vets but the vet feels she would benefit from a sedative so she has to go in that bit earlier than I would have liked

Maybe it's a good thing that she has to stay in hospital overnight as you have enough on your hands at the moment with the kittens . I know you will worry about her but you know she will be well looked after...:)

They'll phone soon then. I was on tender hooks with Cleo last year if you recall because hse had problems with the anthestic when she was younger. That and her age opposite end of the age scale from Porsha but it does worry you then all of a sudden all is well. :)

Thank you all, she has to stop in tonight because there is a risk of peritonitis after bowel biopsys.

Mags - I'm not sure if I will hear anything further tonight, I rather thought my vet would have phoned me rather than a nurse as she usually does so I'm wondering if she will phone after surgery this evening.

Just got her home :-) She doesn't like the buster collar, the vet said I could take it off but to watch her. Took it off and she is trying to pull her stitches out  So I've had to put it back on. I have to keep a close eye on her for any sickness/signs of being off colour as the first couple of days are always a worry after bowel surgery. Since she was having the bowel surgery anyway they decided to spey via midline incision save having two sets of stitches! She's back at the vets on Thursday morning for a check up. Results of biopsy should be early next week. The vet has also sent some food allergy tests off. She has a bit of a runny bottom just now, only to be expected really after the surgery. I've taken a picture of her in her buster collar. Will upload later. Just keeping an eye on her at the moment

Thank you all for your kind wishes x

Glad she's ok Fran.

We use a different type of collar now for the dogs, not sure if you can get them for cats, but they are basically like a thick neck brace / collar & just stop the dogs from being able to get to wound etc, much better than the old EC's. I don't know if they'd work on cats though as they are so small. :?

That idea of Smudgley's seems good - the EC collars are so cumbersome....

How about something like a baby vest or something so she can't get at the stitches but without the collar?

She's had a settled night, eating well, still doesn't like the buster collar so I may have a go at making something like Smudgley suggested later on. I had to take the lids off the litter trays as she can't negotiate getting in them with the collar on :-D

Here's a couple of piccies of her in her collar..

Poor babe - she looks so fragile in that huge collar. Still, it's for her own good. I'm so happy she's at home and hopefully she'll mend fully now.

Fingers crossed for the allergy tests and biopsy coming back with something easily treatable that can help answer her bottom problem once and for all.

Just catching up on this thread Fran and so pleased to hear that Porsha is home and doing okay. :) What a relief.

I hope the check up in the morning goes well and that her biopsy results come back soon and give you some long awaited answers.

She looks gorgeous even in that collar!! ;)

Fran

Porsha has pulled one of her stitches out

I took her collar of for 10 minute to let her have some relief and to groom herself because her bottom is runny and she so dislikes me cleaning it for her, next thing I see her pull the stitch clean out  I've steri-stripped the wound together where the missing stitch is but I'm going to have to speak to the vet tomorrow obviously.

I made her one like the ones Smudgley posted about out of a toilet roll tube :-D but tbh of the two she seemed more at ease with the Buster collar..

How did Porsha get on with her stich at the Vet Fran?

Hi, thanks for asking Jac. I phoned up this morning and explained what had happened and that I'd put a steri-strip wound closure over it. The vet was happy as the wound hasn't come open, so just carry with the steri-strip and obviously if the wound does open then she will need to been seen by the vet..

Jac
