Well I havent got 'it' yet. I think I may get a boy though because from my previous experiences of having guinea-pigs, boys are usually friendlier (sp?)
I have no idea what to call him/her. Maybe I will have to get the pig before I decide on a name.
My mum is building me my cage on the weekend (she has become a handy man lately!! ;) )
I will start getting pig things when I next go to town or Pets at Home and then the guinea-pig I will get when I walk into a shop and fall in love with one! ;)
I bet you cant wait. Ive had rabbits and hamsters but never a guinea-pig
Exciting times ahead!! Keep us informed

Love guinea pigs - they interact a lot more than bunnies .....and they have such gorgeous smiles!

sorry i know this is an old thread but just thought id say that you should really get a pair of piggies-girls are usually best kept in pairs or more though i did rescue a pair of older boys so it can be done. and rather then get one from a pet shop(where they tend not to be too friendly and can have health problems) why not try a local rescue? there are always loads of piggies looking for good homes so it would be good if you could offer a forever home to some piggies that are in need :D
try here to find rescues and pigs in your area:
