I have seen at cat shows a company that makes wooden cabinets that look like furniture (chest of draws etc) but that have a hole in one end and contain a litter tray.

I was trying to find them or something similar on the net to have a look at prices (as the new house I like doesn't have a utility room, so I'd have to have the litter tray/s in the dining room).

I have found this company in America, but nothing here. Does anyone know of a company here that does it please?

Fran - perhaps you have seen them at shows?

:?

I seem to remember someone (maybe Moli) posting a square basket type affair that hid a litter tray. But that was a long time ago

I haven't noticed them at shows Charlie, that's not to say there haven't been any just that I haven't specifically looked for them. I will keep an eye out at the next shows I go to if you don't find one in the mean time. They're an excellent idea aren't they?

Thats is a brilliant idea. Im thinking of getting my friend to make me one he's a carpenter . The hole would have to be big enough for guinness though.

Simple enough idea Charlie, get a nice looking cabinet from somewhere like Ikea/Argos, get saw out and make a hole in the side, sand down to smooth edges vola!!! lol

I did think about it Emma, but I'm not great at DIY and my dad is even worse!!! lol

Plus - how would you take the top off to clean it out etc :?

Hmmmm - think I'll just keep searching for that man. ;)

The cupboard part of this is only £45 and is deep enough to put a litter tray in it

Obviously you wouldn't put the shelf in at that height but you could put it in higher.

Hahahahaha - thank you Emma!!!! I like having a research assistant!! lol

Yes, that could work well - just without the shelf and some kind of latch on the doors so that they can't push them open.

Thank you!!!!!!!!! ;)

(am still going to keep my eye out for that man tho - and the easy option!! lol)

lol

You could easily fit some catches to the door to stop them opening but so that you could open them when you wanted to.

You can also get those laminate finishing strips from B&Q that would finish off around a hole you cut out, you can find them in the kitchen section.

I was thinking maybe start with a 'chest' - like a child's toy box or blanket box or similar. It's big enough for the tray at one end and the 'pop-hole' at the other and room for puss to sort him/herself out whilst still inside.
Then you just raise the lift up top for cleaning access.
Some examples - all sorts of styles - here http://www.pinesolutions.co.uk/acatalog/Rug_Boxes.html?gclid=CP-7_-CtyYsCFQHmlAodxTTKBg

I don't think so Donna. I think they are meant to be instead of the hood. :?

I'll let you know when I get mine anyway!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Found this 'litter tray cover' which is a bit cheaper than the furniture solution.

Might work, depending on your decor?

That does look good DM. I'm going to keep the link in case I decide I need another one. I think I would be able to paint it white maybe to match the decor? :?
