This article is a bit scarey - but good ammunition to show to people you think shouldn't be thinking of getting a cat

A very interesting article.

Mind you, whatever Oli wants and needs, Oli gets!! He is one very spolit puss, but isn't that what pets are for?! ;)

Well there's a price tag on mine ;) I am going to show that to Cleo when she wakes up....or maybe when she's eaten her roast lamb cutlet........or maybe after her supper tonight of free range chicken breast roasted of course....well anyhow I'll show her. :-D

£127 for cat upkeep? Surely it must cost more if food, toys, vet bills and other essentials are counted in... I best not quote such a low figure to other half, he'll soon start budgeting on me and I can't smuggle in the odd pair of shoes as kitten shopping

They're worth it! I just spent $111.00 for a cat perch, vet bills last year (one visit) over $300.00, fancy food treats....she's well worth it!

With 4 cats and 2 dogs a lot of our income is spent on our pets. However, we don't smoke or drink (well only the odd bottle of wine! ;) ) we don't go out that much either, the dogs are our social life!! Well, that's how I justify them anyway!! :-D

I'm not going to look at that link because it would probably scare me to death!! I'll be honest, if I had known right at the start how much Teddie was going to cost me in vets bills, I'd probably still have taken her, I couldn't have sent her back to whatever it was she came from. But I don't know whether I'd ever have a pedigree again, neither of my 2 moggies have ever cost me anything in vets fees except neutering!

One of the things stopping my mum having my dads 2 cats (Misty and Jac) was the cost of insurance etc, managed to persuade her to get them though :)

That is scary, especially when you have 3 dogs and 5 cats.....But I cannot think of anything better to spend my money on!;)

And you're both glad now, aren't you? :) They're both beautiful cats!

I wouldn't be without mine - regardless of costs.

I'd eat beans on toast for a week so they could eat if it came to that!!!! :)

Interesting read though, thanks. ;)
