Advice please...

I just sat down to eat my tea and Oli jumped up onto the cooker. Its electric hobs, so obviously was still boiling hot.

Anyway, he ran away as soon as it happened. I ran the sink full of cold water and made him stand in it - this is what i did when he jumped on the cooker last time!! :roll:

Well now Oli has rather red paws, which is understandable. The problem is that he seems to have little blisters on two of his paws. He's walking around lifting his paws and sort of shaking them, as though he is trying to cool them down.

Any suggestions, to what I could put on his paws or anything i can do for him??

Oh dear Tanya. I don't know what to suggest - sorry. I hope his paws are better soon though.

Perhaps you could get some covers for your hob or a lid for your cooker to stop this happening again?

Anything you put on his pads is likely to be licked off. I'd be wary of vaseline; do you have any unsalted butter..that might help....... no other ideas. Poor boy!

Oli had a little sleep after his little episode and is now sat in the window watching birds! I will check his paws before I go to bed and if he still looks sore I will take him to the vets tomorrow!

Good thinking Tanya. Sorry Oli did that - not nice for him or for you :( Maybe keep him in for a day or two to stop any potential infection in any blisters that may burst.

Thanks Yola! Oli is an indoor cat, so hopefully it shouldnt get any worse!

Just makes me think what he would get upto if he was an outdoor cat!! :roll:

Poor love :( Let us know how he is in the morning Tanya. I wouldn't be inclined to put anything on his paws. I'd see the vet tomorrow if the blisters are bothering him x

Rover is a cluts about that sort of thing, so we always fill the pan (or another one, if the original is still in use) with cold water and put it back on the hob. Keeps the paws off the plate and gives him extra water to lap, which is of course more exciting than the water in his bowl. :-)

Hope Oli escaped with just a bit of discomfort this time as well.

Oh dear poor lad. I am a first aider and the advice for human burns is to cool with cold running water as you have done, I would just keep doing this. I wouldn't put anything on them. How is he today and did you take him to the vets?
