I let them out on Saturday for a little while, Oliver came back 5 mins late, covered in muck, and he has tufts of fur coming out round his neck, he was holding his head to the side and if anyone went near him growled.....I could not find any injuries, he slept all day saturday and sunday, yesterday he started to eat again, he looks ok, but is very subdued...
He is just not himself...:(

Sounds like a cat-fight. Keep checking for sore/swollen places as bites are generally deep but thin so provide excellent growing-places for the nasty anaerobic bugs that cause abscesses.

Hope he sails through with no ill efects, bar a bruised ego perhaps. :-)

Poor Oliver.
Do you think he had a fight with another cat Mol?Not sure what has happened, he is not keen on going out at ther moment, very quiet but has not swellings or injuries I can find, and is eating ok.....Just let him get over it himself I think...

Poor Oliver, sounds to me like he has had a bit of a confrontation with another cat......

Hope he'll feel better soon....

Do check him over really, really well Moli - sometimes cat bite puncture wounds are very hard to detect and as Hreow says, can easily get infected. My Mum lost her cat this way :(

Please give gorgeous Oliver a gentle hug from me; I hope he's feeling better very soon.

Poor boy - whether cat or another animal Oliver sounds as though he has totaly lost his confidence following the confrontation.
He will bounce back though - lots of tlc in the meantime and checking for abscesses. That could be another reason he might be down too - starting a infection. Keep checking that his ears don't feel too hot (my homespun method of rough temperature gauging)
Hope he'll soon be back to normal

Sounds like a fight Moli. Jazz used to come home like that, he went quiet and invariably he would have an abcess brewing somewhere. hope Oliver is ok.
Dawn.
