Remeber I had a lady who wanted to help me with the cats, well she never used to turn up, she came twice out of about 10 times & hasn't been in touch for ages. I am grateful for any amount of help, but I cannot be bothered with inconsiderate & unreliable people. (she used to arrange to come then not turn up, no call or text, then phone me 2 weeks later& arrange again & not come again)

Anyway I've had a young girl contact me - she's 17 & willing to help. She doesn't drive, so vets trips are out of the question, but wants to come & socialise the kittens. Also is keen to help out when we go away. She is a short bus trip away & I am hoping that if she comes a few times & likes it, she will be able to show a few people the cats / kittens etc. Would be a great help too if she could spend time with prospective new owners, showing them the cats.

Well she's coming to see me tomorrow at 1pm. Will let you know how she gets on.

Good luck Smudgley, hope you both like each other and that she is more reliable than the last lady. You certainly could do with some help. Let us know how it goes...

Seventeen and got in touch with you? She sounds like a good helper to me. :-) Hope she settles in well and quickly, so you can have five minutes of you-time now and then. :-)

punctual,
polite,
enthusiastic,
keen,
animal lover,

She seems perfect.

I showed her where things are & discussed all about CP.

I told her to have a think about things & phone me when she wants to come & "get stuck in" - she then said, "when can I come"... I said "how about at the weekend" so she is coming back on Sunday to do some hands on stuff.

I thought if I'm here the first couple of times she comes, then she can come on her own.

She's happy to show people the cats & wants me to tell her when the next person comes to view a cat - so she can see what happens.

She sounds perfect for the job Smudgley ........ you couldn't ask for more than a keen, punctual, polite, enthusiastic animal lover :-D

Just one word of warning, make sure you check that Bluebell doesn't go missing on her visiting days!! :-D

It does make you wonder doesn't it Alex
I know they are busy but I really am trying and am totaly about to give up - seriously I have done everything but begged on bended knee to offer my help.
If I have not heard by the end of this week - giving them a chance with Easter even though I spoke to them well before Easter. Then I will not offer my help ever again I am totaly fed up.

Is there not another cat help group around you can volunteer with Kazz? I'm having a look around to see if there is anything else my way!

I think there is only so much help you can offer and be refused and ignored Alex before you think "forget it" in fact I am so irritated I may turn them down when they do contact me. Stay with my Cleo, and devote the time to her - just I hoped/wanted to spread my "care" around a little.
Must admit this came about just after I had Oscar PTS and more to the forefront recently - as Cleo gets older maybe I am trying to "fill" a feline gap that I perceive to be happening sooner rather than later in my life. But I am irritated not sure what else I can do. Only thing I do know is people like Smudgley work hard and I see they need help and yet I can't due to their lack of "contact"

totally understandable Karen! It's very frustrating. You'll just have to start up your own cat rescue, lol!
