sorry if this is a silly question(being vege im not sure about meat and things) but do i give fish raw to the boys or do i need to cook it first?

they had the runs yesterday so have starved them for the last 23 hours and have been advised to give them small meals of fresh white fish(i have cod) for a day or two before slowly putting them back on their normal food. only ive just realised i wasnt told how to give it!

if anyone knows id really appreciate it as i need to give it in the next hour. thankyou in advance!

I'd boil it or steam it. Good luck and let us know how they go x

Thanks for the speedy replies!

i hope they are ok now too-havnt had anymore runny episodes today so hopefully this will do the trick. it wasnt very pleasant going downstairs yesterday to find one of them had had the runs on our sofa and then tried to clean it up themselves by wiping it every where they could :cat36 my fiance had fun cleaning that up!

another silly question coming up-is it ok for them to have the bones? my fiance is just going to steam it now(much to his disgust:lol: ) but wanted to make sure they were ok to have skin and bones?

Personally I wouldn't give them bones ........ I buy the frozen cod steaks which are boneless and skinless.....

this is going to please my fiance no end when i tell him he has to pick the bones out:lol: i really shouldnt laugh because the only reason hes doing it all is because i refuse to!

When the fish is cooked just 'mash' it down slightly with a fork and it should be easy to pick the bones out!

Good luck to your fiance!!

I never give the skin or bones in fish when I cook it for those of mine who will eat it! Can you get butterfish in the UK', small fish and very easy to skin and bone.

oops-meant to update this earlier!

the boys are absolutely fine today :D both doing solids now so looks like whatever it was has cleared up. have been giving them tiny meals of fish and their usual pouched food today and will do the same tomorrow then start to give more. can tell they are hungry-the food is gone within a minute!

think my fiance is glad he doesnt have to skin and bone any more fish too, so happy all round here:lol:

So pleased to hear they are back to normal again!

Hope the fish didn't take your fiance too long to bone and skin  Next time I would try to get the skinless/boneless frozen block....... even coley would do. They are a lot easier to prepare!;)

:-D Next time you go shopping, why don't you buy a pack just to keep in your freezer as an emergency for the cats;)
