this is Scruffy, the new cat I fetched in today.
He's been hanging around an old ladies house since december. He's lovely, but the scruffiest cat I've ever had in, I don't think you ca see just how scruffy he is, but basically he is one big matt. Completely matted, I think he'll have to be shaved off when he gets castrated.
He's got a funny scar on his front leg & no hair on it. :? (last picture)

Aww poor Scruffy. Probably best to shave him if he is so matted up, and start again, it will grow back in soon enough. Poor little thing. :(

He will need a coat. I'm dead serious. Having had a big wooly jumper on all his life (even if it's got dredlocks in it) he'll be bloody froze with no coat... he needs a knitted one.

Poor little guy, he certainly is matted! How about a dog sweater...they make them for small breeds; years ago I gave one to a friend for her little Peke. Would be quicker than making one...

Good idea - I'll have a look.

Good idea - I'll have a look. :cool:Unfortunately, they've both gone to the Bridge..... a good friend; miss her; and you know, if she were alive she would send it; she was that kind of person! I did a Google search for dog sweaters, but none I found were in the UK, It would be quicker to get Scruffy a little sweater than wait for one to be knitted...well, apologies to any of you who are swift knitters...took me 4 years in college to finish one,,,it was a joke that I was still lugging the thing around for so long......

What about a baby's/small childs babygro or jumper ........... they should be quite cheap to pick up from a Charity shop ? I'm sure it could be adapted somehow to fit the little fella!

yes Mags, I was thinking the same.I've got some large dolls jumpers here, that would do the trick.I'll get the girls to take a look & sort me one out to try.
I'll see how hairy he is when he comes back from the vets, but all his abdomen will have to be shaved, all his neck & chest & most of his back.. :?

awww bless he is such a sweetie. Such a shame people abandon these lovely cats and allow them to get into this state and have to fend for themselves :(

This link is quite good ..... http://www.groovycatsanddogs.com/ ........... you could probably get some ideas how to adapt a doll's jumper into a cat jumper ;)

That's the best course of action.
I got a fab thick down jacket for Danny, my old lurcher, when he had an op on his shoulder and had to be padded so it didn't rest on hard floor etc amnd so it healed. £3 at Help the Aged. My vet was very impressed and asked for the jacket post-treatment, for the next oatient.
here he is

A kiddies coat, buttoned or zipped at the back might hit the spot for Scruffy?
Wish him all the best - he deserves a write-up in the local paper Smudgley - that'll get him a home. :)

Hmm, yes I could, but the other 3 would probably move out in protest, lol! I honestly and sincerely wish I could, 'cause Scruffy (must think of a better name for him poor baby), just tugs at my heart strings!!!

Edited to add - what about Magnet as a name for him, 'cause I get the feeling he'll be a chick magnet when that fur grows back in, lol!!!
