This thread kind of follows on from the last one. So I hope it is OK to start another thread.

I took Tilly to the vets this morning as she has been vomitting for three days and the vets don't know why. They tried all the anti sickness injections but as soon as they wore off she was sick again, she also had a thicken bowel, and a slight temperature which despite treating haven't got any better. So they have admitted Tilly into the vets and they are going to put her on fluids and run loads of test to see what is wrong.

The vets said they will ring later to let me know if they find anything. But if the blood test and x-ray don't show anything they may have to operate to see if they can find anything wrong inside her. Which scares me as she has just had a fairly major op to remove a lump.

So please could you send healing vibes her way as I would love her back and healthy very soon.

Thanks

Sally

Oh Sally, I know how worried you must be as I went through similar with Porsha just recently. She's in good hands and they can properly rehydrate her as all that vomiting has bound to have caused some dehydration. I have my fingers crossed that they find something simple to sort out and that she will be back home with you very soon. Do let us know how she is when the vets phone you later {{{hugs}}} x

Loads of healing vibes on their way to Tilly now x

I hope that it's nothing serious. Keep us posted.

Poor Tilly, and poor you - what a worry. She's in the best place, bless her and the vets will be able to monitor her very carefully.

You don't think that she's eaten some poison - hopefully accidentally? This kind of relentless vomitting sometimes happens with poisoning . . .

Lots of love to you both {{{hugs}}}

I don't think she has eaten any poison. But if she has it will show up in the blood test. I have to say Buster is being very sweet and has been looking for her.

Thank you for all the support.

Oh no Sally I am so sorry to hear about Tilly, when my lucy was being sick (a couple of times a day) I took her to the vets and she had a thickened bowel, and a temperature and it turned out to be lymphomas :( I am praying this isn't the case for Tilly :(

How old is she??

Tilly will be 10 on the 1st of may. I am hoping she doesn't have anything too bad, the vet said she may have a liver probelm that might be causing this (I think he said something like hepetitis but I am not sure) which is treatable. But I am awaiting a call to let me know how she is doing and I am trying to remain posotive until I know anything for sure.

Tilly's blood test has come back. Her liver is fine and her kidney show slightly elevate levels but that is probably because she is dehydrated. But nothing showed up on then to explain the vomiting. She has eaten some senstivity diet and has been having lots of love. She has also not been sick but that might be because she had an anti-sickness injection. She is staying in over night and will be having some x-rays in the morning. The vets have also put her on a drip so her kidneys should be OK now.

That all I knwo for now but I am going to call again in the morning for an update so I will keep you all updated.

Thanks for the kind messages and support it is a great help.

Just got off the phone to the vets and Tilly has had a settled night and is doing very well. She has not been sick and has eaten some more food which is good.
They are going to keep her in for a few more days to see how she goes and they are still going to takew some x-rays. I should hear the results from them later.

Just heard back from the vets again and Tilly's x-rays show that her bowels are generally inflamed. So she might have inflamatory Bowel disease (finally someting I can spell!!! ) and they are going to try her on a special diet as it is usually caused by an allegery to something the cat eats. She is being kept in for a few more days just to make sure and to see how she does on the new diet. The only way to get a definate answer is to open her up and to do a biopsy. So she is fine for the moment and I might go and see her tomorrow.

Thanks the vet said she would have been coming home if she was still eating, but never mind I don't mind waiting a bit longer as she isn't eating and I wouldn't know what to do if she stopped this weekend, we would probably end up at the emergency vets.

Poor Tilly! All that suffering and she doesn't get to have her normal food, lol!

Keep at her with it Sally, she'll have to take it in the end, is it a wet or dry food?

tilly
27-02-2007, 01:26 PM
I have both wet and dry and they are both down for her to eat. She is just being stubborn and not eating them, she will go to see what it is so I think she is hungry but doesn't like what she is being offered.

Sally

alexgirl73
27-02-2007, 01:28 PM
Ah, the stubbornessof a cat, nothing beats it!!

I know you probably shouldn't but have you tried mixing a tiny bit of her normal food in with it? Just for a few days until she gets the taste of the new stuff.

dinahsmum
27-02-2007, 01:44 PM
.......... or maybe put a few of the Whiskas sprinkles on the good stuff? Don't know - don't want to undo any of the good done by the vet/medication.
They can be so stubborn ....

tilly
27-02-2007, 02:00 PM

I expect her belly is still sore from puking so much. Even my young, fit, boy took a couple of days before his appetite came back. I'm sure the 'dry retching' hurt him a lot - he was thrashing his tail angrily whilst bringing up small amounts of frothy liquid. Poor babies.

Animagus
27-02-2007, 02:13 PM
Hi Sally

I also think her poor tum might be sore from all that retching.... a couple of days to recover and you will find she will start eating again... she won't go without for too long... as long as there is food available and plenty water she should be feeling a lot better soon....

get well soon Tilly XX

I just had another chat with the vet. I am ringing him daily Tilly is being a pain about eating, she looks at the sensitive diet as if it is going to leap off the plate and attack her:-D . But she is still eating her chicken as long as it isn't in the same bowl as the other diet!!! She won't even pick it off the top of the biscuits:shock: .

Anyway the vet said she is fine eating what ever she will but to try and wean her onto the sensitve diets.

Tilly has just got back from her check up and the vet says she is doing very well and has suggested that she be put on d/d if she will eat it and isn't sick, as d/d is specially for digestive problems. She has got to be kept on the d/d or sensitivity control for the rest of her life though to prevent the problem coming back.
