Well I don't know what to do about Salt :(

She's not taking her medication today, despite having it ground up and mixed in with her food, she's refusing to eat, drink and i haven't seen her since breakfast :( She's hiding again and I'm really worried about her. The kids have been great and have been really quiet around her. Her cough was getting better but now that's she's refusing her meds I'm scared that it's gonna come back.

Still no improvement today, infact they seem worse :(

Salt hasn't used her litter tray, she is peeing everywhere other than and sleeping in her urine. I can smell it on her wehn I pick her up.

Definately a phonecall to the vets tomorrow :(

She sounds poorly Naomi, see what the vet says but sounds kinda serious. She can't be feeling well in herself can she, it doesn't sound right at all. Cats I have always found are clean and when they loose their personal hygine it is not good. A phone call to the vets sounds a priority.

Poor babe. Definitely not right :( I hope the vet can shed some light on this tomorrow as it's very unusual behaviour for a cat.

Hmmm I think maybe he should reconsider that. It she's as bad as all that I would suggest he should have another look at her. It DOES sound bad . . . :(

Sorry to hear about Salt, is she taking her antibiotics properly now? If not you should be able to get her injections of antibiotics at the vets, we were offered this when Tango refused to eat and take his antibiotics.
Hope she pulls through.

Jeezzzz Naomi I would find another vet, did he see her again before saying that. How can he say that!!!!! if she is that bad (and it sounded bad to me from the start) then why on earth give her antibiotics if he has such little faith, maybe he should have said so from the start. Two days is a long while when you're not well.

Can you not get a 2nd opinion?

Naomi

I can't get to see any of my vets (got 2 vets 2 different practices) until Wednesday :(

I'd go for a second opinion too! Salt isn't doing well from all you've said, and I don't like the sound of your vet...given up on her? When my Aby was diagnosed with a usually fatal fungal lung infection, my vet tried everything he could and even consulted experts at the U. of Pennsylvania School,of Veterinary Medicine!! Unfortunately didn't help, but he tried his best and wasn't just shrugging his shoulders and giving up! Keep fighting!! (((hugs)))

Naomi, I really don't like the sound of this :( . Having had recent experience of a very poorly puss, I think I do understand a bit of what you're going through. I'm afraid I'd push for your vet to see her. In the end with Mizzie I just took her straight round to the vet, burst into tears at reception, and was seen pretty much immediately. In fact the other people in the waiting room insisted I go first.

I know in my case the outcome was bad, but I'm really glad I did that - at least she got some sedation and relief from her anxiety.

Do what your instinct tells you, and I really hope she's OK.

Lots of Love, Sammy.x

Hmmm Not sure I like the sound of your vet either Naomi, from what you have posted I know that my vet would go out of their way to try and resolve this and very quickly too they certainly would never give up without a fight.

Firstly I would have thought they would want to know WHY she has got a heart murmur??? (is it heart disease or was she born with a condition?)

Nae, if you can't get an appointment then just turn up with Salt at the vets, they won't turn you away. Or seek the advice of a different vet but please get Salt seen x

Is she any better Naomi?

Salt' been back to the vets and they are at a loss as to what's wrong with her.

She's still not using the litter tray. I took the litter tray downstairs cos she was going to the toilet in the downstairs bathroom. She then went back upstairs and promptly did a toilet on the upstair bathroom floor. I've changed the cat litter, I've scrubbed the litter tray and she's still not using it.

Is this the same vet that wanted you to wait till Wednesday? What tests have they done: blood work, urinalysis, scan? And they have no idea what's wrong with an obviously ill cat?? Forgive me for speaking frankly, but if it were me, I'd get a second opinion ASAP!!! Poor Salt! Hang in there....

Kazz

What did they do when you took her back to the vets Naomi? is this the same vets or a different one? they must have a clue.

Okay take a breath Karen....

Okay Naomi lets start at the start what are the symptoms she has....what tests have they done? what results have they had? ...maybe most important whats your gut instinct?

Nae did the vets take Salt's temperature whilst you were there, was it normal?

Kazz

Naomi have a look at this site there is a section for find a vet:-D http://www.rcvs.org.uk/

and if you look there is a vets that is minutes from you that only take Secondary Referrals and specialise in Cardiology, Ophthalmology so may well be worth asking your vets to refer you to there as they belive Salts problem is the heart murmur???? Maybe you'll get some answers there. But before you ask them will you find out
If they have done blood tests and what the results were and what tests for?
Why they have given Salt antibiotics for what?
Have they checked her claws has she been run over?

Maybe though being referred is the answer.
