Well it looks like Des O' Connor (Mr Perma-tan) will be replacing Des Lynham in Countdown!!
He is 10 years older that Des Mk1......I'd have thought they would have gone for someone younger than 74 for that programme so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Pity they didn't do the 'off-the-wall' choice. RW wasn't exactly a superstar when he started Countdown was he, yet he turned out to be the perfect host. Don't know who though, except I remember someone suggested Jo Brand. That would have been fine, as long as she moderated her (sometimes) potty-mouth.
(Don't know why I'm commenting/complaining; I haven't watched it for years, well, since they moved to whatever stupid-early time it's on now. Now 4.15 start - that was fine. Guilty pleasure watching early TV a couple of times a week!) :)

Well, has anyone watched Des O'Connor on Countdown yet?

He appears to have settled in quite well and is better than I thought he would be. He slips in the very ocassional joke but doesn't overdo it.

Maybe not such a bad choice after all :D
