This is a question for those of you with more than one cat.

How many litter trays do you use? As you know I have the 3 cats, but I only have 2 litter trays. Should they have one each or is it alright for them to share? Broxi will only use his, as will Teddy, but Cooper goes where the fancy takes him. What is the right balance?:?

Hmm, quite varied opinions there. My 3 are all indoor cats though, so I'm not sure if 2 trays are enough.

I have never followed the 'one tray per cat plus one spare rule' and haven't really had many issues - the one in my bedroom is the favourite, and 3 of them choose to use it, despite there being one in the bathroom next door - I have one in the kitchen for the first time in a couple of years, and it is getting a fair bit of use now.

got 2 big ones, they did have the hoods on them but had trouble getting to use them, so hoods now not used.

Two cats - 1 litter tray with no problems!

6 cats

2 litter trays which need cleaning twice daily, but no problems. :D

(one of the cats will only go outside though)

And they seem to use one tray for number 1's and one tray for number 2's

When I had 3 cats I had 2 trays, but they only used the downstairs one, not the upstairs one in the bathroom. Now, 1 cat, 1 tray.
