Does anyone else have a cat with a heart problem/issue?

My Tetley was diagnosed with heart murmor when she was a kittten almost 6 yrs ago... she does very fine with it, it has got slightly better the last 2 years but she is due a check up in a few weeks for this year so fingers crossed she is ok...

She is looking a little frailer than usual at the moment though.
never stopped her being active, she even got stuck up a 70ft tree a few years back and had a huge rescue with fire brigade and rspca hehe

The last time "Scooter" went to the Vets they said he had a slight murmur, but at 14yrs, they said it was common and nothing to be concerned about.

My neighbour lost their 3yr old Cat to heart disease earlier this year, but he was poorly from the start, your Cat is well, so i think he should be fine. Fingers crossed for you.

aww I am sorry for your neighbours cat...

yeah every year Tet has a check up somes years it is worse, they even suggested a pace maker one year but we wanted her to live a normal life for as long as possible and she is doing really well so far. she is slowing down a bit now, Just hope its nothing to do with her heart getting worse as the last 2 checkups they said it was not too bad.

As long as we can keep her happy , then I am happy as we know we do our best for her!

Arthur has a very bad heart mumor, the vet was very concerned when they first realised, he went to a specialist vet for an ultrasound. The specialist however thought that he must had been born with it and he copes very well (like a looney sometimes)

I think you will find that with Tet is is just her age that is slowing her down, Arthur calmed down a bit at the age of 5-6.

Thanks Emma, Tet was also born with the condition.
I hope it is her age, she doesnt go out in the garden to play quite as much as sleeps a lot more! lazy cat haha!

saying that I dont think 6 yrs is old, my other cats was 21!!

Had a dog a few years ago with a heart murmur, and she lived her life to the full, I remember having her on a special diet that I bought through the vet.

Hope the check up goes well.

Fingers crossed

My cat Millie has a heart murmur, she had kittens many years ago.one of them had a heart murmur all are doing fine Millie is now 11 ,and the kitten would now be 10, seen her last week, still looking good..I think when the vet tell you theres something wrong you do tend to worry a little more than you should.

Ginger has a very mild heart murmur, adn he is fine. I must get the new vet to listen to it to see what he thinks actually.

When our golden oldie Bert went to the vet in January of this year the vet said oh I have found a heart murmer just watch it - quite funny in an odd way he will be 21 at Christmas and is already blind, has a blood disorder and arthritus add in he has just moved 150 miles to the new house, mastered stairs and our new garden - well bits of it there is 4 acres a heart murmer hasn't stopped him.

have to say going blind is the least of his problems he has the nostrils of a sniffer dog and can smell treats at 200 yards!

Not bad for a boy we took in for foster care as he wasn't given long to live - we got him in december 2000 and he is till going strong and looking forward to his boosters in jan 07.
